We have been buying pizza at Cagneys for years and they were the best....'were'....sadly the orginal owners sold the business (early 2025) and there are new owners, new staff, new cooks, new manager. So if anyone is wondering why the food quality and service has gone downhill, that is why, new owners. We bought 3 pizzas (pick up) on 4/7/25, a Pepperoni, The Lot and a cheese Ripiena. Firstly, they couldn't find our order, or the person's who was before us. Pizzas that were ready cooked and for pick up, were stored all over the shop. No communication between staff. When we got home, the Pepperoni and The Lot were burnt and the Ripiena had hardly any cheese in it. The Ripiena used to be loaded with cheese and was oozy, melted and stretchy when you ate it...not this one. I ended up calling the restaurant and complained about the quality and that 2 pizzas were burnt. I told the manager that the ripiena had almost no cheese and he argued with me saying that there is not supposed to be cheese in a Ripiena. I then told him perhaps he needs to review his menu and edit the ingredients, as even the menu states that the Ripiena has cheese. Through the conversation the manager kept telling me that he has 16 years experience in running businesses. Its one thing to run a business and another knowing how to make pizzas and what ingredients go into each pizza. It was very disappointing, not just the pizzas but dealing with management and sadly Cagneys have now lost us as customers. Now to look for another pizza shop...
Read moreCagney's was a favourite pizza and pasta restaurant for my friends and I over twenty years ago! I've been delighted to return to it in the past eight years to discover it still serves up consistently delicious food (the current chefs are truly amazing!) but what really makes this place a diamond of the West are its beautiful, welcoming, warm and family-friendly staff. They really create the Cagney's experience. Sandra in particular exemplifies the heart and soul of this place. The comfy booth tables, community-like dining tables for big occasions or large groups of family and friends to the more intimate 2 and 4 seater tables, are all decked out in traditional butcher paper tablecloth so they become the grounding for fun games of noughts and crosses, hangman or collaborative art. The kids and adults LOVE this place equally. Colourful textas, a great kids menu and a gelato bar all complete the family friendly environment. They serve up an extensive menu with regular Specials including wood fire pizza, exceptional pasta and meats. Our favourite dishes are the lamb skewers, four cheese pizza, gnocci funghi and gnocci/penne Calabrese and Siciliana and the mushroom chicken. The gelato is delicious too. Highly recommend for those who enjoy great food and exceptional customer service in a warm, welcoming local...
Read moreI’ve been coming to Cagney’s for years, but unfortunately, the food has gone seriously downhill. It honestly feels like the ownership or kitchen staff has changed, and not for the better — it no longer has the authentic Italian quality it once did.
The gnocchi pesto was a major letdown — bland, mushy, and completely lacking in flavour or texture. The lasagne was absolutely drowned in sauce to the point that it was soggy and almost inedible. And the Capricciosa pizza? It was a far cry from any real Italian-style pizza I’ve had. The crust was average, the toppings didn’t seem fresh, and it had none of the balance or care you expect from an Italian kitchen.
Such a shame to see a once-reliable local spot lose its charm and quality. Sadly, I won’t be...
