Not too far from the Spotswood Train Station lies @CandiedBakery. Slightly American themed in the pies they have amongst other baked delights is a take on David Chang's crack pie at Momofuku in New York. A salty sweet buttery addictive mixture encased by a biscuit base, Candied Bakery's answer to that is the candied pie. They also have Philly cheese steak rolls. I'd got here just at opening and was very pleased to see the pies available.
Candied Pie A soft smooth filling that just swirls around your mouth, enjoying the sweet sensations and caramel flavours, it keeps you coming back for more. The biscuit base is yum, thick, but required to contrast against the moreish filling.
Key Lime Pie Like a thick curd, not too sweet, the lime hit comes through and against the biscuit base, this is delicious. Big fan of key lime pie and this version delivered.
Returned for another visit for lunch to try the Philly Cheese Steak Roll featuring organic beef, caramelised onions, American cheese and mayo. This totally hit the spot, generously packed with super tender juicy beef oozing juices. I'd expected grilled steak in the versions I've eaten but this is still really good. Caramelised onions and melted American cheese make each bite really satisfying.
I couldn't leave without some desserts: Bourbon Pecan pie - this is delectable, packed full of yummy pecans with this lovely bourbon toffee like mixture holding everything together in a delicious pastry. Not too sweet allowing the pecans to shine but with a touch of bourbon coming through.
Basque Cheesecake - personal favourite and this didn't disappoint, each bite savoured and an excellent version of a soft creamy cheesecake that just melts in your mouth.

Read moreGuys, I love your product, but your service system really blows. I never write online reviews, but this needs to be aired publicly, because I've spoken to your team directly about it several times and it is getting worse. We're always cautious to check everything in our order at Candied, because the number of times you hand an incomplete or erroneous order through the window is not OK. Our most recent experience was deeply concerning. When we realised our $80 order was incomplete and your staff member was standing there blankly trying to work out what was happening, a member of the public walked up to the window and handed a take away container into the shop with the words "these aren't ours". Your staffer, without even opening the handed in container, passed it to us and said here you go. He had no idea what it was, or where it had been. We asked him to prepare us a new pair of bacon and egg rolls, although we're not sure this is what he actually did as he returned with a similar container very quickly. We suspect it was the same pair of Brekky rolls that had been god knows where in the possession of god knows who. From a food safety and customer service perspective, this was a total disaster, and really quite offensive. The onus is on you guys to prepare and fulfil the orders accurately and safely. We love your shop, but we don't love how nervous we are when we...

Candied is a small bakery in Spotwood. Husband and wife team Orlando and Toula opened in 2012, and the lines have been out the door ever since. They’ve recently moved from from their small shop on Hudson’s Rd, to a much larger venue nearby on Hall St, with dine in capacity.
The treats range from European, Australian to American style, with something for everyone, with bread, pastries, cakes, donuts, sandwiches and more. Although the selection stays mostly the same, ensuring you can always come back and grab your favourite options, they do also sometimes have some specials on. 🥐
I’m yet to try anything I haven’t loved. If I had to pick a favourite, it would be their Key Lime Pie. The base is spiced, and the filling perfectly citrus. A close second is their Tres Leches, it is deliciously sweet, moist and milky. 🍰
The Vegan Raspberry Coconut Cake was absolutely beautiful, and we usually also get the Vanilla Slice Donut - a must try and maybe one of the best donuts ever. We visited on Easter Weekend and tried their Hot Cross Buns, crusty and sugary with a nice custard filling. 🤤
In the past I’ve also tried their sandwiches and they were a hit. Personally my favourite bakery in Melbourne. You can also order full size cakes, and I would say they’re quite affordable...
