Choco Bean Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

Arriving at about 7.30 I found the place (the only café within this linear strip of shops along a busy arterial road) extremely vibrant, the team of two counter-staff under extreme pressure inundated with orders (mostly of the takeaway variety) and working as appropriately pacey ‘music’ emitted from the inhouse sound system. By 8am, though, the hecticity had largely subsided, the flow of work-bound customers evidently having ebbed. Asking for a croissant ($4.90) and long black ($4.00) I was assured the former was fresh. However, not only did it turn out to be stale (judged by the texture) but otherwise to be of inferior quality. I consume lots of croissants and consider myself quite a connoisseur and this item appeared as if it were left over stock from the previous day from a nearby Asian bakery. It seemed to be a case of peddling the proverbial sow’s ear as a silk purse. On the positive side the head waitress (the proprietor, I imagined) was very energetic and appeared very invested in the business. She seemed to have established first name familiarity with returning customers. I would return but not to order a croissant. From the customer service to the delicious coffee, this is my favourite Wantirna stop whether I'm on my way to work at 6:30, or on the weekend reading a book or getting into some work on my laptop. Hilary and Ron are fortunate to have such a wonderful staff, as are the staff to have such caring, humble and considerate management. Kelly, Nicole, Tayla, Maddy, Branavie, Shannon, Olivia, Bronte and Amy... they make me feel like VIP as they make the effort to learn my name AND my regular order when when I visit (all the same experience for other regulars too!). After ordering my favourite Almond Milk Latte (regular)...(the almond milk they use is delicious)... I recently visited Choco Bean Cafe and was blown away by the delicious food and cozy atmosphere. The cafe had a great selection of pastries, sandwiches, and drinks, all of which were prepared with care and attention to detail.

One of the highlights of the visit was the hot chocolate, which was rich and creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness. The staff was also very friendly and attentive, making sure that our experience was enjoyable from start to finish.
