Coonan's hill fish and chips — Restaurant in Melbourne

UPDATE STILL THE BEST IN THE WHOLE WORLD .. and then some Potato Cakes ..BEST Potato cakes . Crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside .. Seriously .. I came off the Moreland exit from the Toll .. turned up Coonans Rd .. as one does to get to the Northern Subs .. saw the fish n Chip shop and thought .. "Mmmm Potato cakes .. Mmm Corn Jack" which is my self indulgent Travel food when hungry and out in the car.. The guy was POLITE .. the Shop is CLEAN. The batter is CRISP which is a very good indication that the OIL is CLEAN ! This has become my STOP OFF when I come home that way .. So Impressed that I have been known to travel to them from my home .. passing countless F& C shops .. just for their food. Their Fish is JUICY.. and yes .. the batter is CRISP .. NOT GREASY !! and by the amount of staff last time I went there .. [ Granted it was on a weekend ] .. They have the custom .. which in my opinion has been well earned by offering QUALITY ..CLEANLINESS .. POLITENESS .. without the huge price tags that some of these Boutique trumped up Fish n...

First class fish n chips. Discovered this place by a word of mouth. Couple of friends recommended it. About time! After refraining from eating fish n chips for a long time for having several bad experiences. We tried it last night for the first time. My family and I are still talking about it. This is something else! This guy has taken the flake to another level. Fresh, juicy and non greasy crispy batter. chips were amazing and looved the potato cake. Also the team had the customer service that matches the quality of their food.

Not too sure how long the owner has been there, but he knew all his customers by name, and for some, he even asked them if they wanted the usual. I loved the familiarity and the atmosphere. Well done guys and thank you for the experience....

I happened to be in Coonan's Rd and felt like an early dinner, so I randomly chose Coonan's Hil Fish and Chips, and wow, was I impressed. The fish was freshly battered and absolutrely melted in my mouth with the perfect amount of batter, and the potato cakes were a good thickness with the operfect amount of batter. Seriously, this place is worth the drive from anywhere to get quality food delivered...
