Corked Wine Bar Werribee — Restaurant in Melbourne

WHERE: Werribee WHO: Corked Werribee WHAT: A truly hidden wine bar has finally opened in the west!

Find the wine barrel on the main street in Werribee turn to the building and head into a corridor until you come upon a wall of wine, find the bottle with the red glowing cap and entry will be granted!

On entering you find 4 zones, Bar, Outdoor, Tables or the very special Lounge. The Lounge has family history, belonging to a much loved and passed nonna and is a gorgeous touch, this is where we started. The space is moody and intimate with low lighting, wood and bare brick, a large glassed wine cellar and a sexy bar that takes centre stage.

As we aren’t wine aficionados, we ordered the Grand Graze Share Plate and asked to be led on a wine journey. We started off with an Italian Pinot Grigio which set the night as an Italian theme, we then went on to a Toscana Rosato and ending with Nebbiolo. Wine ranges from as little as $36 up to $500.

We also tried our way through the Spirits Menu which included Lambay Single Malt Whiskey, Small Batch Whiskey, Gin, Cognac and Lemoncello. Unfortunately, we were having such a great time in the 7hrs we were there the phones stayed away and we missed venue photos.

Looks like we will have to visit...

Will not be back. We went this evening, ordered a cocktail and they forgot the main ingredient in it. Rushed us to order food as kitchen was closing at 9pm. Rushed us to order a drink. The lamb was dry, the sauce was plain and polenta was watery, it didn't taste like anything honestly, we left it. The charcutery/cheese platter was $55 and had only 2 types of meat, small serve and 2 small pieces of cheese, 60% of the platter was just grapes and pickled veggies, chutney. We asked for extra crackers for it and they took 15mins to bring it. The staff was too busy talking with each other at the bar, taking selfies and sharing their instagram, and charged us an extra $4 for the crackers. Took the plate of my partner and he wasn't finished. They didn't ask, i told the girl it wasn't great when she took my plate and she didn't care to ask why, she ran away. To add to it, we realised that as we were going to leave, they had just brought food to another table, it was 9.45pm, and we were told the kitchen was closing at 9pm and we got rushed to order. I had no hesitation in celebrating my 40th birthday recently at Corked. The night was a great success! With the entire space booked exclusively for us to party in, we were treated to a fabulous drinks menu and delicious finger food- no one left hungry (or thirsty!).

With quite a few ‘out of towners’, it was also fun to show off Werribee’s finest wine bar- everyone was so impressed with the space. There was plenty of room to mingle, sit, or dance- and even do the Zorba around the bar!
