Culinaria Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

Online booking didn't go through( kept getting notifications for 2 days that it hasn't been accepted yet) so I rang to book a table. The venue was cute but that's sadly about the best I can say about our experience. 5 of us ordered meals and only 1 person found hers to be acceptable/enjoyable. Generally the food was bland or meal not tasty- despite there being quite a bit of variety on the menu.( Although prices for extras aren't listed) Poached eggs were overcooked( tested, but still served) and scrambled egg pesto left an unpleasant aftertaste. Hot drinks were all fine, but icecream in iced chocs and coffees was frosty. You have to order and pay at counter, they won't run a tab- so each time we wanted an extra drink we had to pay.( One lady had to make 3 seperate payments) There are no toilets for customer usage and the food comes out individually, so we didn't all eat at the same time. Salt and pepper shakers were empty, and one's we borrowed from another table were nearly empty, and the padded bench seats were apparently uneven and not comfortable. I have reviewed 100 local cafes in the last year- this was definitely our worst...

The service is immaculate, as the staff are quick on their feet and are attentive to your every need. My favourite dish at this cafe is definitely the Eggs New York, which are always cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is also very friendly and positive, and I love bringing my family here. The coffee is also very smooth, silky, and creamy, with adorable latte art which my mother seems to enjoy whenever I bring her here. Old school cafe serving mainly regulars and locals it seems. A little run down. I wasn’t expecting much from the coffee but it was surprisingly good although on the expensive side. Not sure about the service. I was alone and they asked me to move from a 4 person table to a two person table even though the place was pretty empty.
