Wait, a patisserie near me - what is this hidden gem? Well it is kinda hidden, but so are all their pastries, cakes, sandwiches and everything else you would kinda hope to see when imagining a boulangerie /patisserie *which is what they label their business is. Man, the place was spartan, cleaned out. I had to ask if they were still in business. They nodded yes, as I imagined Soviet grocery stores from the 70's having way more goods on hand. I asked about a sandwich, they had like 2 pre-made sandwiches. I didn't like the look of them, but was happy when the lady said they had chicken schnitzel sandwiches. Great I said. She said it would be 10 minutes - they make them fresh. I must have looked a bit crestfallen in my Covid mask, so she said today it would only be 5 minutes, as they had just made some before. Um ok. I have to admit, I was pretty disappointed when my request for some dijon on my sandwich, at this French boulangerie, was met with an absolute No. Well, I got my sandwich and picked up a sourdough (for more than 8 bucks). The sandwich was solid *I added some of my own mustard when I got home. The real kicker was the sourdough. I needed my angle grinder to cut through the crust. But after getting through the kevlar crust, i was met with nearly stale loaf of expensive bread. I will probably give this hidden gem a miss until we are out of lockdowns and...
Read morebeware of this people I purchased a sandwich today 28/2/24 that cost $10.50 dollars I paid with 20 dollars and the dishonest woman attending the shop gave me 6.50 so the sandwich cost me $ 13.50 I am not completely sure if this person does not have basic arithmetic's doesn't know how to count or simply she is desperate to take money from honest trusting people walking into her shop I will tell all my friends at work about the rude poor customer service, poor food quality and dishonesty with money when you pay cash. I hope this people improve the quality of the food and customer service maybe one day this person attending the shop will learn how to count count improve her manners when dealing with people purchasing her products. To be fair i will never return to that smelly...
Read moreI'm giving this bakehouse cafe a high rating based on the quality of their product. FIRST CLASS! Probably the best beef pie I've ever eaten. Cheese twist sliced in half horizontally, heated up in the oven, then stuffed with slices of a fresh top quality unsalted butter - sensational! (Just don't tell the shopkeeper). Gotta go back there next time I'm in Melbourne for more beef pies and to taste more genuine French baking. You should go too, try it for yourself and buy up big, see if you can make the shopkeeper happy. WARNING! Google Maps says open on Sunday. I made a special trip based on this info from Google. Should have known...
