Had a delicious lunch at Va Tutto on Sunday. They charge a pretty penny but if you’re after something a little bit fancy to spoil yourself and your loved ones this is the place. We ordered: 🥖 Baby pepper filled with feta, served on garlic bruschetta, $7 per slice 🍤 Stir Fry Prawns, ginger, garlic with sugar snaps and macadamia nuts $49 🐟 Crumbed King George whiting fillets served with rocket salad $46 🫐 Pavlova with fresh cream and berries $19.50 The bruschetta was delicious but such a small serve of bread considering its $7 per slice. The stir fry prawns is my absolute favourite dish and I’ve come back twice now for it without wanting to try something else. It’s just so fresh, great mix of flavours and a good portion size. Crumbed whiting was enjoyed but seems like such a small serve for the price or at least with more sides to go with it. The dish that always brings me back is the Pavlova, it is a MUST TRY if you visit. It should be known as their signature dessert. Unfortunately it was over cooked this time, the base was hard to cut through and more chewy then it’s usual melt in the mouth experience but the wait staff were happy to pass on that feedback to the chefs and I’m sure I’ll still go for it again the next time I visit. The wait staff were lovely, very professional and attentive throughout our lunch. They did sit everyone in one section of the restaurant which did make it quite loud.

Visited Va Tutto restaurant for the first time for my brothers birthday. This restaurant has a large menu with plenty of specials, entrees, sides and mains. The dishes we had were; bread, grilled scallops, wagyu dumplings, pork with mash and baby carrots, prawn stir-fry with green beans & rice, yellow curry duck with rice, inside-out ham and hot salami pizza, chips and radicchio salad. Dessert we had pistachio ice cream and sticky date pudding. Could not fault any of the dishes and we were surprised by the mix of Asian and European style dishes which we found they did well. Prices are on the more expensive side with some entrees being close to the price of mains. I do recommend sharing some meals, as the portions are substantial and that way you can save on cost a bit.

Couldn’t order as we were seated as the waiter and waitresses described the kitchen was in a state of a mess. Haven’t experienced this in my 11 years of working in hospitality. Entree of the 4 tastes of the sea was confusing, pomegranate paired with salmon, pieces of sashimi not cut properly and stuck together with others. I’m not one to complain but when I spent the amount of money I did tonight you would expect a bit more. Wagyu rib eye ($120) unseasoned, dry potatoes accompanying it. Red wine jus wasn’t a jus. Not of jus consistency. Pizza was drenched in olive oil to the point of being soggy. The Coca-Cola was even flat and warm.

I was so looking forward to eating here. Drove in from the city to make it before they closed, which according to this Google page that was updated recently stated they closed at 4pm for lunch. I think it’s very important to also mention that the kitchen closes two hours prior to that time. So in order to actually eat here at lunch time you must be in before 2pm!! You may sit and chat until 4pm comfortably but food must be ordered by 2pm. Upon walking in and being seated only for a drink as I wasn’t able to get anything else, all I could smell was vick’s vapor rub in the air or something similar to it. Perhaps this venue is more geared towards an older clientele with aches and pains that have been smothered with the medicinal cream. This is from observing the surrounding tables which were finishing their meals. As I sit here writing this, my chest has been cleared of any congestion if I had any due to the minty aroma. Overall two stars. One because my glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was delish and the restaurant interior is clean, modern and aesthetically pleasing. Clearly the front of house was not happy to see or serve me but thankfully the bartender made it worthwhile and I enjoyed two lovely glasses of wine before heading back to the city. I truly wish I had the chance to try the food. So craving some pasta and seafood. If I ever make another trip near this neighbourhood I shall give it another...
