They have had a presence in Ivanhoe for 25 years and their popularity is clearly well established given it was a Monday night and the place was absolutely pumping. I also noticed the presence of several other pizza restaurants in close proximity none of which were anywhere near as busy as WP. We decided to skip over entree to leave room for dessert and ordered a chicken salad, a Margherita and lasagne to share for main. The chicken salad had a generous serve of avocado and the pizza had a perfectly puffed up crust and super thin base. Adding the optional buffalo mozzarella is an absolute must as it’s high quality produce and beautifully fresh. For me I felt there wasn’t enough rich tomato base on there but the cheese was deliciously plentiful. I had a lasagne craving and it’s not something I usually order as I don’t love the texture of mince meat BUT this was made with a slow cooked beef ragu which was absolutely heavenly. So flavoursome and hearty. Again not as tomatoey as you generally see but the perfectly melted bechamel made this dish a real standout for me. All washed down with some extremely reasonably priced cocktails and they didn’t skimp on the alcohol either. Dessert wise we ordered a white chocolate and strawberry pizza and the evoo cake. The pizza was a small size and had three scoops of ice cream on top which was a bit disproportionate but still a tasty sweet ending. The highlight for me was definitely the unique and intriguing lemon and extra virgin olive oil cake served with honey sauce. If that wasn’t interesting enough it also came with buffalo mozzarella ice cream! So different and really delicate flavours. Gorgeous presentation too. A great little local with relaxed atmosphere to enjoy some authentic...
Read moreSo disappointed – will not be ordering or visiting ever again. We ordered the rigatoni lamb and spaghetti bolognese with a garlic pizza. Rigatoni lamb was advertised as a slow cooked lamb shoulder ragout. It was in fact boiled lamb chunks in an oily and watery base (can’t call it sauce) devoid of any tomato, stock, wine, herds, salt or pepper. The olives scantly scattered around were also absent of any flavour. The oily base was then compounded by an overload of very bland cheese. Parmesan it was not. Could not stomach the dish and had to throw it out. $31.90 wasted. Spaghetti Bolognese. How can you get this wrong? Easy. Received cooked pasta with a very light stir through of what seemed to be a meat based spread you might find on the bottom of a saucepan after you’ve emptied it of the meat sauce and about to wash it. Again, tasteless and bland. $28.90 wasted. Garlic pizza. Last chance to get something right. Unfortunately, this very simple mark was missed. There was so much cheese on the pizza, the dough in the centre was not cooked through and all that could be eaten was the crust. $17.50 wasted Not commenting on presentation as I have low expectations for food deliveries. To be fair, we’ve had some excellent pizza’s in the past from Woodfire but it seems on occasion, their quality / cooking expertise is very low. But when it’s good, it’s great so we keep coming back hoping we don’t get the night when the bussie is in the kitchen Last night we run out of luck and the meals were clearly substandard and totally unacceptable, particularly for the price. Nothing delivered to us was edible. I hope this review is helpful to the owners and...
Read moreSigned up to DoorDash delivery service tonight and went on to order pizzas from Woodfire Pizzeria & Cucina. We qualified for a hefty discount as first time users of the Doordash delivery service app. There was a mishap at the Pizza shop that resulted in our order being cancelled at their end. Called up to see what happened, and had a mishap at their end again with the phone line disconnecting. Just one of those nights I guess. We all have them. But to make it up after I called them again, they honoured the same pricing we were getting through the DoorDash service. The pizzas were delivered by a young woman who gave me the most sincere and heartfelt apology I think I’ve ever had from a business before, and handed me two free drinks as a little sweetener on top of our pizzas. We’re very glad we stuck with the order though, because those pizzas were absolutely fantastic! All fresh ingredients and none of that shredded muck they call ‘ham’ in most other pizza places. All the ingredients were packed with flavour and the pizza base was delicious as well. I’ve read some of the negative reviews in here about the pizzas and I think some people may not be aware of the difference between a Dominoes Pizza (yuck!) and a gourmet type pizza with genuinely fresh ingredients. At first we thought their pizzas were a bit on the expensive side when ordering, but as is often the case, you get what you pay for. We got premium pizzas. Will definitely order here...
