D for Dumplings — Restaurant in Melbourne

This hidden treasure of the eastern suburbs is my fave. It's not your typical fast food Chinese food; you feel good afterwards and it's made to order so always fresh. I've been here many times over the last couple of years and the food is literally consistently amazing. I reckon there's only 1 chef because unlike other restaurants, this place doesn't waver with the quality of the food.

Even takeaway, they pack your food with extra care so it maintains its optimal condition, eg. A corner of the container is cut so that crunchy items won't get soggy.

And did I mention, the portions are huge! Best to order a few dishes, get rice and share it with table. Takeaway is not in the flat, stingy containers but the good, deep ones!

We always, always get the Fish fillet with Ginger and Onion- even the fussiest non fish eaters love it. I personally like the Beef and Black bean and Honey Chicken.

D is for "Duuude, this place rocks!" I got delivery a few nights ago. 10 piece szechuan dumplings, 2 serves of special fried rice and some lemon chicken. Was just over or under $50. Totally worth it.

It was so fresh that my girlfriend and I thought we were sitting in the restaurant. So tasty the flavours of everything were so defined. The meal was delivered a good 20 mins earlier than expected. The bloke who delivered it was real nice and professional (ie no subwoofers blareing out of his car and very polite). But you know what the big bonus was? The lemon sauce for the lemon chicken had cling wrap under the lid and then wrapped around the outside of the container so nothing would spill and get everything else sticky!

Horrible experience - I ordered two servings of dumplings, received one that was yummy and the other which was too hard to eat with my chopsticks and overall over cooked and disgusting. (I love dumplings so this was a shock) Anyway, when asking for another lot of dumplings it was given to another table and I was left dumplingless and desperately waiting and hoping my order wasn't given to another table but having waited half an hour for my long awaited dumplings I was let down. I sadly won't be coming back here due to their lack of sympathy, and without even offering to cook them for me - she only told me my total including the dumplings I had no eaten. Sad because I am a regular customer here, and am now dreading...
