Taj Agra — Restaurant in Melbourne

Just been in the restaurant with my family. Been going there from long time. From last couple of visits food been great but service is the worst. First of all no greeting as we walked in and to top it up after getting seat dint get attended by the staff for a little long time. When our starter came in after waiting long time we requested to replace Cutlery with spoon. staff took the cutlery but left with us no spoon we had to ask them few times to bring us the spoon by the time spoon came in food was cold already. Ordered main course had to ask few times for salad which I did order with the order and by the time sale arrived we had already eaten half of our main course. To top it up had no cutlery or spoons with main course either again had to seek attention of staff and ask for it. Now comes to dessert asked for menu and showed interest in ordering dessert but none of the staff member cared less. Ask three different staff members and finally placed order. They dint bring the order at once and top it up again no dessert spoons how we suppose to eat dessert without it. All the time we were just seeking attention from staff felt very humiliated and let down. When it came to sort the bill staff just jumped onto billing counter with a fraction of a sec after sorting bill no good bye no tnx for giving business. I’ve even mentioned food was nice while having main course but no response whatsoever felt like this place dnt wana have business from Indian clientele. It’s a big no to be there ever again. Used to regulars here with previous owners but it's the first time we have ordered take away since then. We waited a very long time almost 1.5 hours and when we called we were told it was on its way... waited again. The lamb rojan josh was good but that's where it ended. The chicken tikka masala tasted like they had added chicken and sauce to extend the dish. It was awful. Really disappointed as had previously dined in and had enjoyed the food but not this time. Won't be returning. The delay in delivery plus the less than average food was enough to put us off for life.

NB update... to be clear we were advised that the order would take up to 45 minutes. We waited 1.5 hours for delivery. But today you reached out with an apology and the very generous offer of replacing the chicken tikka masala. I have to say it was absolutely delicious and how I have remembered it in the past. We acknowledge that businesses get busy but communication with your customers is always key! I went here between 5 and 6pm last night and I have to say the presentation of the restaurant is absolutely stunning. The tables were done beautifully and the walls and ceiling looked so pretty. We ordered two main dishes, two naans, and two mango lassi drinks. Our food tasted delicious. I give 4 stars only because it was quite pricey. The girls at the register were very polite but unfortunately had to deal with two very difficult customers who came in while we were waiting for our food. One of them was just snappy about payment and the next one ordered the wrong dish for pick up. When one of the girls at the register said “its okay we can have the other one made for you if you can wait 15 minutes” I don’t think the difficult lady even listened properly because she kept going and was kinda rude instead of just taking the L.
