Delight Inn — Restaurant in Melbourne

Started eating here over two decades ago, WAS absolutely fantastic. Now to recent times, ordered takeaway over the phone for my family of four. Good service , polite and quick turnaround of food. We knew what we wanted and the cost of the food as we had the most recent menu in paper form and digital. Upon pick up at the Delight Inn I was hit with almost $15 on top of what we had calculated. I questioned the staff and even mentioned we had ordered from the June 2022 menu and she said that quite a few people had said similar and it was a mistake so I paid and took a new menu from the restaurant to update and also double check. Sure enough she over charged my family and knew it. The food was mostly okay, not great, not the right flavours in the Mongolian steak and a couple of other dishes and the containers were not full. I am all for local and am one, don't rip people off it leaves...

Oh my gosh, this was the best night out and meal we've had in a LONG time! Four adults ordering four mains, plus large rice, and two lots of roti bread - and it came to $30 per-person, but we tipped with $35 pp because it was just so darn good. Our meal included the delicious Cantonese sizzling steak, and the perfectly spicy salt and pepper calamari ... We're all seasoned travelers who've eaten our way through the likes of Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Japan and Bali - and this was up there for authentic Asian cuisine. Real bang for your buck too! And the most perfectly delightful end to the meal was the wonderful conversation we had with the owner. We had dine-in and it was very clean and quiet. What a great local Aussie suburban gem,...

Third time trying this restaurant hoping it will get better but each time worse than the last. Never again. Take away last night was horrible. I liken the food here as bad food court Chinese. Fried rice was so dry with hunks of boiled rice thrown in to pad it out. Mongolian steak was like nothing I've ever had. It was more like sweet/sour & reminded me of the cheap Kantong sauce in a jar. Honey chicken was average and very small serving. Sweet & sour pork was like eating deep fried batter, not much meat inside. I seriously don't understand the 5 star reviews. This is up there with the worst food...
