DT's Hotel — Restaurant in Melbourne

The main thing this place is great for, in my opinion, is for being the most transgender friendly place in Australia.

For well over a decade this place hosts drag shows on Saturday nights and it's frequented by many male-to-female transgender people and also cross dressers. I've heard it described as "Melbourne's biggest closet!" :)

I haven't been much in recent years because I feel more comfortable being myself in all manner of places now. But DTs was a godsend when I was younger, and needed somewhere where I could be myself and feel safe doing so.

The Saturday night vibe is generally great, but it does fluctuate a bit.

I wanted to give my five stars to the amazing show of the girls last night, it was amazing! The guy at the door was great, but I'm very disappointed with one of the bartenders, this bartender was very very rude. I asked him.. Do you have a drink menu? His answer was " not really" I couldn't have any alcoholic beverages yesterday, so I asked him if he/she could offer me a mocktail, he said "just Lemon, lime and bitters" so he was very grumpy when he was serving our drinks, not smiling, and with very rude short answers and questions. I have been to this bar a few times with friends and it has always been a great time, situated on the end of Church Street towards the Abbotsford end and is welcoming to all patrons, weather gay, straight ect.

They have a drag queen show on Saturday nights, street side parking, and easily accessible by tram as well, they have a garden area which is also a smoking area and I have met some lovely people here, for a fun pre drink...
