I’m going to be frank, please set your expectations when coming. I wasn’t originally going to write something, but even after having my second dinner I’m still a little annoyed that I had to come here, so here I am.

The reason why I’m upset is the food was foodcourt quality, the dish I had was the pork and eggplant don. Where the pork was a little smelly and there was a strong bitter taste from the dish, I’m guessing it was the poorly cooked eggplant. The miso soup that came with it was really watered down from the powder they use to make it. With all honesty their ingredients seems fresh but the chef doesn’t appear to know what they are doing or their trying save costs by not putting all the ingredients they should in the recipe. If it was the later I would prefer if they just increase the price on their menu and have a decent meal then pay a premium for foodcourt quality food.

I think what was most upsetting for me was I had to sit through the dinner with my partner and her friend hungry and waiting to leave without eating the rest of my meal, they didn’t enjoy their food either but they had conversation so they didn’t mind. I think the situation put me in an extra foul mood so this should be taken into account in this review.

After dinner I went over to mazi to get myself a HSP box thinking I would let it go after being full, but here I am writing...

Totally disappointing and frustrating. I ordered a ramen (ie noodles soup) to be delivered to work place. The food arrived - soup already in the noodles, in the same bowl. According to them, they’ll only separate soup and noodles “on request”. I didn’t realise it has to be requested because every other respectable noodles soup takeaway I’ve ordered, have always come with noodles and soup separated, so the noodles don’t go soggy. Not everyone gets to eat their food the second it arrives. The staff member who spoke to me refused to rectify the situation, and said “I’m not going to sit here and argue with you!” So I granted her wish, I hung up.

What was even more disappointing, apart from my soggy noodles, was that the noodles they used, didn’t look/taste like ramen noodles at all. They are almost same as a Hokkien noodle. Texture and taste was all wrong in a bowl of ramen.

To be honest, it gives me the feeling that this business doesn’t take pride in their...

Not authentic and horrible food.

Had the Gyudon Beef (sliced beef on rice with Teriyaki sauce). Stringer tendoney “beef” meat - tough like a cardboard toilet inner roll and heavy gamey odour - yuck ! not sure if it was even beef!

Disgusted I doused it with lots of table soy sauce and 7-spice powder and quickly wolved it down and imagined England, only because I was starving.

And to boot, it took them more than 25minutes to produce!

Additionally, I had asked for hot water to sooth my lingering post cold chest congestion, and that went ignored and towards the end of my meal, someone else gave me cold table water.

So even the service they can’t get right.

Not...

As I’m a big fan of Japanese food who’s been to A LOT of Japanese restaurants in Melbourne, I can say without any doubt that this restaurant has been the best one! The foods were all delicious and fresh! The eggplant was cooked perfectively soft! And try the beef sukiyaki it would definitely melt you with amazing favour in this cold weather. Staff are very friendly and knowledge about food! reasonably priced and good atmosphere you can have a lovely time with your people around (personally try to noisy crowded places) and the homemade black sesame icecream was the perfect ending of my dinner (thumbs up) would definitely go back anytime soon Thanks :)

We waited 60 mins for the noodle & udon, another 10 mins for the rice. The restaurant was not even half seated. Truly magical. My 6 yrs old cried 2 times for hunger, pregnant wife tired comforting her. Eel bowl was okay, udon mediocre, noodle miserable. Problem is they prioritize delivery, then it seems to be random instead of order sequence. As a business owner I generally leave only good reviews and remain silent for poor experience. It is rare I left a 1 star. Not out of anger, just purely disappointment. Owner should feel lucky this is Melbourne and ppl are tolerant. This Japanese restaurant won’t survive 1 mth anywhere in Japan.

Nice Japanese restaurant. The service is a little slow and when we were there only 2 other tables were occupied so there’s no excuse. The meal was good though I left wanting more of the salmon don. Would’ve loved a couple more sashimi pieces and a little more rice. However, was upset to find out that the soy sauce contained alcohol. I have a mild allergy and only found out at the end when I was fiddling with it. I think it must be made known to customers either my mouth or a label that it contains alcohol. Might return in the future.
