Most Fridays a group of school mum's from the local area try new places for lunch! After being recommended by good friends to go and try lunch at Flight Deck I was really looking forward to it. The menu options were great that I found it hard to choose just one thing so I decided to share 3 different plates with a friend. The first was the Bruchetta ( one piece of Vienna type bread grilled with cheese and topped with two slices of tomato definitely not the bruchetta I imagined but ok!!) next was pumpkin arancini balls ( these were Luke warm but they tasted ok! Ruined by pouring uncooked cold sauce over the top ) next was a main serve of calamari. I thought it came with chips but I misread this.$26 got me 12 pieces of calamari and some salad , calamari was cooked well and tasted good. Another friend got the entree calamari hers was on a smaller plate but for $18 she got exactly the same 12 pieces of calamari and salad. I couldn't help but ask why this was! We were told after some time that it was based on weight and the lady that plated ours didn't realise it was a main so gave us the same amount as an entree size but on a main plate. What ever the case was part of me feels that, had my friend not got the entree we would have been none the wiser and paid the $26. We were not charged the $26 but the $18 after bringing this to the waitress attention. Not sure I would come back...
Read moreOn a beautiful sunny Saturday morning, my partner and our 2 year old son along with our 12 week old service dog in training arrived at this establishment to be warmly greeted by “pets are not allowed in here”
With the waitress confirming with the bar manager, giving us the nod that we were fine to take a seat, we were once again awkwardly approached by the restaurant manager saying “I have a spot for pets on the other side” Hang on matey! He has a service jacket around his body, clearly presenting as a service dog in training.
We finally decided to take a seat outside giving us a beautiful view of the airport runway. Bang on lunch time, our tummies were rumbling so we decided to order mains.
The Chicken Caesar Salad seemed to have been put together by a toddler. Missing its dressing, and thoroughly lacking flavour to be charged $25. The calamari main on the other hand arrived and looking wet as a sock with oil and clearly appearing as it didn’t have adequate cooking time.
TO SUM IT UP: highly recommend coming here for a close up experience with planes, perhaps a cheeky drink or two but save your money as A better meal can definitely be made at home.
On the bright side we did have a great time watching the planes...
Read moreWe discovered this place not long before lockdown and were so sad we had to take a break until it re-opened. Well it's back up and running and even more sensational than I remembered.
The food, location, pricing and staff make the place truly unique and a special experience. You receive such a warm welcome every time from Ari and the team that it's like visiting a family home, ... but with better food, better decor, no bickering hehe, and great up close views of the planes landing and taking off. What's NOT to love!
I'm working my way through the menu but every meal so far has been beyond excellent. All the classics, Fillet Steak, Garlic prawns, Barramundi, Parma etc and also specials of the day (I've tried the lamb shanks and the pasta), have all been faultless. One other thing I really appreciate is the fact there are real tablecloths and cloth napkins. Pub prices with these 5 star touches really are unheard of these days. It's seriously good!
I've recommended this gem to many friends and everyone has thanked me later. Try it. You'll be...
