Absolutely fantastic meal at Fong’s Chinese Restaurant! Started off with their amazing steam dim sims. They have a beautiful flavour, generous in size and meaty filling with a really delicate wrapping. I consider myself a dim sim tragic and having searched far and wide around Melbourne, Australia and the world, this is a best I’ve found. It is right up there with the famous Taiping dim sim that closed 20 odd years ago! Highly recommend!! All ingredients are hand cut for perfection and truly a work of art! Next up was the large spring roll. Again, hand cut ingredients and amazing flavour. I can’t rave about these enough!! The very subtle hint of curry spice really complimented it well. The special fried rice was perfect. The vegetables were fresh and cooked to exact requirements with a beautiful crunch. The cha shu pork was cooked so well, not your standard red sauce dried-out meat tasting like cardboard. Each portion was flavourful and juicy. For main we chose an old school combination chop suey. Again, brilliant!! The accompanying sauce condiment was perfectly balanced. Finally we had a banana fritter. The batter used is an old family recipe and perfect for the fritter. It has a beautiful crunch that wasn’t too thick in batter. From the moment we walked in, we were seated at a lovely cloth table with nice crockery and cutlery. Felt akin to dining in a French restaurant rather than a local restaurant. We were provided complimentary prawn crackers in a basket (freshly prepared) and a jug of chilled water. The owner and her daughter were very friendly and attentive. Overall, a brilliant night out! Will definitely be making Fongs our Chinese restaurant of choice from now on!

This is a great little local gem. It's nothing fancy, but there's a great extensive menu and the staff are friendly and the food is good. It's not necessarily the best Chinese food I've ever eaten in my life, but it was tasty and it scratched the itch I had for Chinese. There must be an additional/alternate menu if you're celiac or have a gluten intolerance, which you don't see in a heap of places. We didn't look at that, because we're fortunately ok, but the regular menu is long and full of things you know. The food was really nice. I thought the Chicken Fried Rice was a teeny bit underdone, but everything else was good. The batter on their Sweet And Sour Chicken was light and flavourful. Everyone loved what they got. Overall, I'd recommend this if you're in the area. It's not overly expensive and it's nice to support small, local businesses that do their best to provide friendly service and great meals.

Chinese food should not be microwaved. There people seated before us that had not had their food delivered. An hour later after enquiring, our entree came. Microwaved food temp was not hot, warm bits and cold bits. Mains came almost 90 minutes later after further inquiring, how long is this going to be. Chicken breast fillet was so tough, rubbery, slimy and certainly not hot, nor was the Fried rice, we certainly were not going to order dessert. People were still waiting for their food. They were concentrating on takeaway, people came in ordered and takeaway food came out quickly Never again, did not want to hear their excuses. This was not cheap. Please do not go unless you would like to be disappointed with paying to have meals to be microwaved.

Zero Stars – Absolutely Disgraceful Experience – Never Ever Again I have just returned from what was without a doubt the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. My family and I went to Fong's on Centre Road for what we hoped would be a relaxing dinner, and instead, we left angry, hungry, and completely shocked by the appalling service and lack of basic customer respect. We arrived at 6:00 PM. By 6:30 PM, no one had come to take our order, so I approached a staff member and politely asked if we could order. Her response? A rude, dismissive “go and sit down.” No explanation. No apology. Just attitude. Eventually, someone took our order, but then we waited. And waited. And waited. We asked at least five times for an update and were brushed off every single time with a curt “it’s coming.” Our first dish didn’t arrive until 8:30 PM, over two hours later, and the rest trickled in at 8:50. One of my family members, coming straight from work and absolutely starving, walked next door and grabbed a quick pizza. As he quietly began eating it at our table (after waiting 2 HOURS for food), a staff member walked up and said, with incredible attitude, “Well, I’ll wait for you to finish your pizza before I start serving.” I was gobsmacked. You dare give us attitude after making us wait over two hours with zero accountability? At that point, we had received only a few dishes, so we told the waitress to cancel the remaining items. Of course, 10 minutes later, out came one of the dishes we had clearly cancelled. When we reminded them, the waitress dismissively replied, “Well it’s here now, so you can take it home.” Unbelievable. To top it all off, when they finally began serving, they didn’t even place the plates down gently. They practically slammed them on the table, no courtesy, no eye contact, no professionalism. The energy was cold, unwelcoming, and frankly hostile. And where was the manager or owner during all of this? Sitting at the counter, fully aware of what was happening, and not once did they come over to apologise, check in, or even acknowledge how terribly the evening had gone. The customer service at Fong’s is not just poor, it’s nonexistent! The staff have no people skills, no manners, and clearly no training in how to treat paying customers with even the basic level of respect. This was a special night for our family that turned into a complete disaster because of their incompetence and arrogance. I rarely leave bad reviews, but this experience was so unbelievably disappointing, I feel compelled to warn others: DO NOT waste your time, money, or energy at this place. You deserve...

We orded at 8pm after getting told 20-25 mins for wait time, we end up waiting for over 1 hour, hoping that the food was at least going to be worth the wait...we were completely wrong, the special fried rice was undercooked or frozen and reheated, pork and vegetables was horrible and the meat tasted like it had been sitting in a freezer for months. Mongolian beef was overly salty and the sauce looked like it was from a jar, sweet corn soup was watered down and had absolutely no taste, just tasted like corn water. I'll give them that the prawn crackers were only ok and those were thrown in for free as a sorry for waiting for there terrible food. And just to top it off there were multiple hairs in the food, and only two people working front and back. Do not recommend wasting your hard earned money at this sorry excuse of a restraunt. As I am writing this I'm starting to feel nauseous, wouldn't be surprised if I end up getting...
