IG: @ediblemelbourne Warm, welcoming, delicious Locals of Essendon Fields and surrounding suburbs, you are in for a treat. Friction recently opened up and you can now enjoy an amazing St Ali coffee and a delicious meal in a beautiful, light-filled environment. We asked for recommendations from our very kind and professional waiter and he was sure to give us something we enjoyed. We tried the Chili Scrambled Eggs and Mezza Platter and for dessert the Waffles. The chili scrambled eggs were possibly one of the best ones we've tried, not overcooked or dry, just perfect. The right amount of chili although if you're feeling adventurous you can ask for more. We loved the Middle Eastern inspired platter too - it’s called Mezza which refers to small dishes in the Middle Eastern cuisine. One look at at the scrambled eggs served there and you know how delicious they are. A side of sujuk, haloumi, labneh, Turkish bread, cucumber and tomatoes, it is the best for the indecisive who wants a bit of everything that is also fresh. Do yourself a favor and order the Waffles - they are freshly made, crispy and yummy with a generous though not overly much serving of hazelnut spread. The decor is beautiful, floral and colorful. Service is awesome too - attentive but not in your face.

Friction is a large cafe at Essendon Fields. Although I dined by myself, I felt comfortable and I noticed a number of other people happily dining by themselves. The layout of the cafe made it very easy with indoor and outdoor dining and there is plenty of space. Dining on a weekday lunchtime when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised how busy this cafe was. When I finished my meal however, the cafe was packed. With an extensive food menu including the classics like Eggs Benny, chilli scrambled, pancakes and avo smash, I ordered a Mezza dish. This was scrambled eggs, turkish bread, halloumi, labneh, cucumber, tomatoes, olives, sujak and bacon. Everything was delicious, the ingredients were top quality and it was a very generous serving. They also had some vegan pulled jackfruit tacos which I'd definitely try next time. My strong oatmilk latte had a great caffeine hit. And I don't often see a plain chocolate milkshake on the menu so I had to try one. The milkshake had ice cold milk, which was perfect and it went down a treat. This cafe has an extensive alcohol selection with a number of wines and spirits to choose from. Located close to the airport, its not surprising that this cafe is so busy. It's definitely worth a visit.

A new café on the foodie scene is Friction located at Essendon Fields in Essendon. It has a modern interior with lovely table and chairs. Everything looked great on the menu and it was hard to choose what we would like to eat. We decided on the Waffles, the Smashed Avo with added egg and bacon and the Corn and Zucchini Fritters with added salmon. The Smashed Avo was a generous serving size and great value for money. And it was delish! The Corn and Zucchini fritters was lovely and light with delicious fresh flavours. The Waffles smelt great! We couldn’t wait to enjoy start eating those. The ice-cream didn’t melt so we could enjoy them after eating our other dishes. The Waffles were really good and we loved the hazelnut chocolate flavour. The café was easy to find and there is plenty of parking. We felt it had a nice relaxing environment and the staff were very friendly. The food was great tasting and well presented. We thank Friction Essendon for a lovely Saturday morning breakfast. All of our opinions are genuine and are based on our experience at the time of our visit.
