🇹🇷 Supreme Turkish Breakfast for 2 🥟 Manti
Two Minutes Turkish (2MT) is a family owned owned and run Turkish cafe located within Essendon Fields Central. The friendly mother-son duo bring 30 years of hospitality experience and quirkiness into the area. The menu is a blend of traditional and modern, you will be able to find your favourite classics like menemen and gozleme. 🇹🇷
I specifically came to try two dishes. The Serpme Kahvalti (Supreme Turkish Breakfast) is for 2 ($45) or 3 ($65) people. We loved the fresh bread and eggs but found the fruit quite scarce and thin. It was good but I feel like I have had better quality products and more value for half the price.
The Manti (beef dumplings with minted garlic yogurt, burnt butter and tomato sauce) was delicious, not oily and quite saucy. The coffee and chai were great too. ☕️
A good option in the area, I love their little courtyard out the front, it is heated and they even provide blankets for the colder days. Due to staff shortages they are closed on weekends until further...
Read moreI want to rate this place a 5 but just a couple of small things prohibit me from doing so. After sitting down and getting menus we just waited for ages until we figured out on our own that you had to order and pay first at the counter. No signs or staff who advised us of this. Then after receiving our food, we had to get up and get our own cutlery and side plates as well. Again, not a massive deal, just as new customers a little awkward not knowing or being advised of this.
Also, the shared breakfast menu item can be a bit confusing or misleading (at least for my tiny brain). It says $17.50 with a minimum of 2 people. It should just say $35 because that's what it costs...
The food was very nice and fresh. The menemen was by far the highlight and the staff were very friendly. The place itself is as cosy as a shopping centre place can be, but I like the touch of Turkish music in the background. I'd definitely come back...
Read more2 minutes is not how long it takes to have a Turkish breakfast, but these guys can smash out the food to the table within 2 minutes of ordering, which made perfect sense why the name.
We ordered Gozleme - Men-oh-men, the Serpme Kahvalti all to share between 2 adults and 2 kids.
Having really fussy little eaters, they enjoyed the gozleme and a side of scrambled eggs without complaining which was great for us as parents to see.
The potato Gozleme had a very subtle but balanced spice to it.
The Simit (Turkish bagels) served with the Serpme breakfast was moist and not dry.
The coffee was also not bad at all, generally a let down in some of the Turkish cafes/restaurants, my latte came out at the right temp and consistency.
The soy chai latte was also well made with a good temperature and balance of chai.
An overall positive experience and we will definitely make this a regular weekend breakfast...
