Friends of Ours is located on Mount Alexander Road in Essendon. With a large interior as well as ample seating outside, it’s definitely a popular spot.
We tried the Super Salad which was absolutely delicious & topped with panko crumbed halloumi & a poached egg. So many interesting flavours & one of the best salad dishes I’ve had in ages. The Bomb was another tasty dish, smashed avo & a generous side of bacon. We also tried two of the fresh juices, Melon Madness & Green with Envy, both perfect accompaniments to our brunch.
We finished by trying a new dish, Lemon Butter & Ricotta Pancakes. These pancakes were sensational, served with caramelised apple & pear, a big dollop of ricotta, pistachio crumb & topped with a magnum ice cream. The balance of flavours was spot on & the pancakes were cooked perfectly.
The staff at Friends of Ours were super friendly & helpful and we were so impressed with the dishes we tried. A warm & welcoming vibe to this cafe & I look forward to going back. Thanks so much...

In addition to this there’s a real sense of community about the place and I thought their Salvation Army collection on the front counter was really lovely.
On to the food. For once my husbands salad was wildly appealing. A really appetising looking dish and upon tasting I was bowled over that the healthy option could be so tasty. I went for my go to smashed avocado which was labelled ‘the bomb’ here accompanied by a really yummy chai.
Our third dish was the baked eggs which was a fantastic rendition including perfectly cooked eggs, lamb, copious amounts of haloumi and house made zataar bread. Paired with a fresh watermelon juice my tastebuds...
Read moreWhilst in Melbourne our friends of ours took us out for breakfast to friends of ours. I thought it was a bit weird at first but once we got there, saw how busy it was and the food being produced I realised we were in good hands. To stay the place was busy would be an understatement, it was flat out. However, staff were very accommodating in clearing off a table promptly for us to sit at. The food was filling, tasted amazing and didn't hurt the wallet too much. The coffee was also very good, so much so that I had to get another one to go! If you are ever in North Melbourne go and...
