Ok where do I start. Called up midweek to make a booking and was told to make booking online Not ideal but ok. Made Booking for 4 on Saturday night and arrived on time to be told sorry there was no booking under our name. We showed them the email with reservation details and they scrambled for a few minutes to get us a table. Crisis avoided (or so we thought). Two of the 4 orders were totally inadequate. A pasta marinara has 3-4 pieces of seafood in total and was totally underwhelming and not worth anywhere near the $28 dollar (approx) price. The second was a Salmon with cous cous salad. My partner asked if they could change this to a garden salad due to allergies. They said no problems. When dish arrives there’s a few pieces of lettuce and a couple of tomatoes (barely a salad) but even worse was the salmon piece that was absolutely tiny. It’s as though they cut a normal salmon belly fillet into 4 pieces and served one piece up as a main meal. This would have been insufficient for an entree, but totally appalling for a main meal worth $30. The waitress comes to collect our plates and asks how the meals were. We decide to give honest feedback (as they say restaurants prefer this than just walking out u happy and telling all your friends). The waitress was great and wrote down all the above mentioned points. We see her walk 3-4 metres away from our table to the chef (you can see chefs from tables st this restaurant). She spends 15-20 seconds explaining our complaints to him. This is greeted with an eye roll and dismissive hand gestures from the chef who then stares over in our direction, obviously unhappy with the feedback. The waitress walked away looking distressed after what he said to her. My partner approached her and tried to console her. A while later we were greeted by another waiter who said they had decided to take $4.90 off our bill. Our bill was over $270. Really? Don’t bother. Overall apart from our first female waitress who was great, the experience and food was totally sub standard and underwhelming. Definitely not value for money. Final tip to the owner ….. tell your chefs to leave their attitudes at the door. If they can’t handle honest feedback then maybe they are in the...
Read moreFirst, I would like to acknowledge that the food at Demazzis is delicious and that until recently we greatly enjoyed dining there, as the service has always been excellent. However, I will not be returning due to a deeply disappointing and dangerous issue with undeclared allergens.
As a parent of multiple children with nut anaphylaxis, I was shocked to learn that nuts are included in your meat seasoning yet are not declared anywhere on the menu or food descriptions. For example, your chicken burger is advertised as being coated in “secret spices.” A peanut is not a spice, and no reasonable customer would assume that a chicken burger would have a peanut-based coating. It was only because I asked out of an abundance of caution that I discovered this – and I was further alarmed to learn that the same coating is used across other meats as well, such as the chicken kebab.
This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Unlike cakes or muffins where customers might reasonably expect nuts, no one would anticipate peanuts in meat seasoning without clear disclosure. Not only is this disturbing, it is also a serious safety risk for individuals with life-threatening allergies.
I strongly urge Demazzis to immediately review its allergen management practices, update all menus and descriptions to declare allergens transparently, and take steps to ensure the safety of all diners. Anything less is reckless and puts lives at risk.
EDIT!!!!!
Also don't appreciate the lying and gas lighting by the business in now saying there was no nuts and that it was actually the risk of cross contamination..LOL. I have 6 witnesses that saw me speak to THREE different staff members in the restaurant including the chef to clarify whether they meant a risk of cross contamination or an actual ingredient. ALL.THREE TOLD ME THEY GRIND PEANUTS AND PINE NUTS AND PUT IT IN THE FLOUR COATING for the meat and that they were planning on changing the coating soon. Please don't try to gas light me now. Outrageous! Please do some allergy training. Peoples lives...
Read moreHad a very poor experience on mother's day 2021. We had booked for a table of 8 when l had booked this booking l was never told the dinner would be for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Meanwhile we were waiting in line for 10-15 minutes by the time we were seated and ready to order it was 6:30pm. We only had 1 hour left to order and eat as we were told it was a full house. My family wanted to have dessert and coffee relax and catch up to enjoy this special night together we couldn't as we were told we had to leave.
I didnt want to create a scene at the reception and my family had already exited the restrautant. I thought l would call the next day which l did. I didn't receive a call back so l called again a week later.
The manager had told me l should of asked to speak with the manager that night and asked to be seated for longer. I explained over and over again that we were told to leave. I also explained no one had told us the booking was for 1 hour and 30 minutes or else we wouldn't of booked at this restrautant. I recieved one excuse after another from the manager "this is the case across all restrautants on mothers day". This still didn't explain why l wasnt told on the phone call when booking it was for 1 hour an a half or else we wouldn't of booked to eat at Demazzi.
The manager had asked what l wanted from this conversation. I explained to admit this wasnt fair we spent over $400 to have a relaxed dinner out and it was far from this. She had said there's nothing she could do about this no apology, empathy or sympathy towards this situation. I told her I'll be writing a review she said "that's fine you can do that".
We've been loyal customers since demazzi had opened from this response. We'll never be returning to...
