Went there with friends last night, its a fantastic atmosphere in a really cool old converted mansion sort of house. Food was great, and drink prices reasonable. All the staff were great except for one waiter who kind of rudely and abruptly reached over and collected my drink when I still had a very small last mouthful in the bottom. Normally I wouldnt care, but since he was so abrupt and he had to even reach between my friends to grab it without asking or anything, I tried calling his attention to mention I was still drinking it. I said "excuse me mate" and he didnt seem to hear me whilst he was clearing the table next door, then my friends also started calling his attention and he seemed to ignore us. Finally he turned around and I said I still had some drink left, he kind of scoffed and he put the drinks down and took the glasses out of mine that he had stacked up from the other table and said "well you can have your glass back". I said "no thanks, not after the other glasses have been stacked in it", and he said with a ton of attitude "well what did you want me to do?". I replied that he should have checked before taking my drink and again with a attitude he said "well how about I go pour a tiny bit back into a glass from the tap to make you happy" and I said "fine" as I tried keeping my patience at his clear rudeness. A few minutes later he returned with actually a full pot glass, which would normally be fantastic service and a more than expected resolution, but he just came over to the table and slammed it quite noticeably hard on the table and immediately turned his back and walked off all pissy without saying anything. I wasn't even wanting a replacement drink as I was driving and couldnt have another pot, I only had a few sips of it, I was just put out by how rude he was from the start. All my friends commented the same and it was a very frustrating point in an otherwise fantastic night at the this pub. If Goldie's management read this review the waiter in question was the male gentlemen who was wearing a black kind of skirt pants, my booking was for Michael at 7.45pm. I seriously doubt this waiter is doing a good job representing...
Read moreHappy hour was good. Vibe was good. But let’s get rid of card surcharges. Come on. You’re big enough and busy enough to be either smart enough to budget this cost in your menu prices or account for it in other areas. It’s just silly. It’s just a way to earn an extra money on top. You know most customers will use card. So just put it in the menu prices.
Edit: you won’t see this update but in response. You absolutely do get profit from card surcharges. Just not indirectly. Because of price psychology. It’s the 24.99 thing people see as $24. So they think it’s cheaper. Come to your pub. Pay. And they only see the surcharge if they do at all, because who is checking the signs or the eftpos terminal really. But then you get the extra 1 percent to cover the charge. Would you get the same amount of customers and sales if your Parma was advertised at $29.50? Perhaps. I dunno.
Arguably, it’s less transparent as it’s usually a small disclaimer on the menu or machine. Transparent would be you see a price on the menu, you pay that price. Some terminals (I don’t know about yours) even add it on after you’ve tapped. They don’t even show the total till after. That’s not transparent at all.
Besides. I reckon most people pay card. It seems to be the default for most places to hold out the eftpos terminal without even asking. There are other ways to not penalise cash. Such as a cash discount. Besides this removes the penalisation and makes it a reward. Positive reinforcement works much better than negative reinforcement (with kids and animals I dunno about pub patrons).
That’s my opinion. It seems I’m in the minority and but I just wonder when it’ll stop. When 99.9% of customers pay card, will we just include it in the...
Read moreI ordered the vegan impossible burger that is meant to be almost indistinguishable from the real thing... Low and behold it is! About 15 minutes after finishing the burger i was told by the wait staff that the burger id been given was actually meat.. Despite the fact I was told it was vegan when it arrived & also confirmed it was vegan a second time when I couldn't believe it...After 22 years of not eating meat i was pretty upset to realise i was given meat without my consent..
I appreciate the manager was apologetic & gave us a refund and a free drink but i don't really appreciate the fact that this occurred in the first place, the manager was great but the waitress that made the mistake was never to be seen again, she clearly has had limited training (or didn't seem to care?) I strongly suggest your staff undergo further training that might stop this from occurring again..
If this had been a situation where you fed a coeliac gluten or someone with a nut allergy peanuts you would be dealing with a much bigger problem than a disgruntled customer with an upset stomach.. It will be very much unlikely that I will ever return to a place that can make such a huge dietary oversight, even after the customer questioned it.
At the time I didn't kick up a big fuss as I was out with friends and accepted the managers apology but the thought that I had eaten beef after 22 years of not touching meat has made me both physically and physiologically sick to the stomach and I hope this doesn't occur again to...
