This is definitely a gem in small laneway if you love Japanese food. Their menu is Japanese fusion. Their chicken mince rice is super tasty and fresh. Their salmon bento cooked to perfection with very yummy egg. Baked egg is very Japanese fusion and tasty. They also offer variety of Japanese tea, including hojicha. Lots of yuzu menu too. Cafe is inside the Retail area. Not huge cafe space, best for small group. Only few big group table available. Outdoor sitting is available too. Pound cake is the best dessert in this cake, esp. Yuzu flavor. Takeaway bento and noodles also looks good. Price overall is pretty usual price range for such a quality Japanese cafe. Definitely worth the money. This cafe is few street away from tram stop. Parking is not easy to find. Staff is very friendly. Sitting is comfortable, but table is quite small if you order too much. Retail area is a must visit, lots of their products are imported from Japan, there are unique products which only can find in this store. The entrance is not easy to see, look carefully.

Probably the worst cafe I’ve been to. I really don’t know why people line up to eat here. Baked eggs - There is only one egg in here. So it should really be titled ‘baked egg’ not ‘eggs’. It’s basically a little bit of miso paste, with lot of mozzarella cheese, and few pieces of sweet potato and egg plant.. and two small pieces of bread. If you’re a ‘normal’ baked eggs lover, do not get this.. you will be disappointed. Traditional plate - It was about $27 and all you get is a big serving of brown and white rice mixed, a small piece of salmon fillet, one scoop of potato salad, few pieces of burnt egg omelette, and tiny bowl of pieces of veggies. Yes the salmon was cooked well I will give you that but not hot. It felt slightly cold. Just get yourself a piece of salmon and some rice and eat at home… Cold pressed juice and Yuzu Lemonade were small glasses, again overpriced. Nothing special about it.. cold pressed juice is not freshly squeezed at the cafe btw. While you wait, you can look around the shop but wow everything they have there is more than times two times the price compared to other Asian supermarkets in Melbourne. I’m sure you can find same stuff for cheaper online or else where in Australia. Not sure why they sell some Italian stuff as well. It seems like a very westernised interpretation of a Japanese cafe and food, the service was fine, but for me it was a big NO overall. Not worth the price or the wait and most importantly the food was very disappointing…

We recently went back after covid, we love this place and I have recommended to multiple people. We set down for food and coffee. My partner was taking some pictures with his camera with quite a huge lens. Though, the photos were only for his personal collection, nothing commercial or professional at all. This middle age women, think she was one of the owners, saw his camera and ONLY said “NO PHOTO” and we said “oh so sorry” and put down the camera right away and she walked away without saying anything. But then I kept thinking about HOW she said it and it bothered me. She was at least 4 metres away frm our table, she didnt even bother coming to our table (but we were the only table in that area so for sure she was talking to us). Im sure with the huge camera, it is easy to assume that it may not only be for personal collection and I absolutely respect that some venues dont welcome any pictures taken. But I really wish she made some more effort to talk to us. Outstanding food with good price and amazing service!! I would definitely be back for more and spread the words!

I’ve never posted a review so this is a first for me but it was such a let down. I feel bad because the vibe is great, but the food is literally 0.5/10 for me. 0.5 because the salmon was cooked nice but was unseasoned. $27 for “the traditional”, a standard breakfast platter with a Japanese twist -75g of baked salmon without any salt just dry baked, no glaze and it was pre-cooked, meaning cold. Unscaled too which is fine if it wasn’t prebaked and soggy -tamago that’s burnt -beetroot salad with just the vegetable -the rice, was literal pure mixed brown and white rice without any rice seasoning and it was merging together which is extremely a-typical - 1/2 random cherry tomato $28 for scrambled eggs -half the entire plate of seasoned typical rocket salad (for some reason the only thing salty was the salad) -onion and egg which was named SCRAMBLED EGGS, was really just whisked and fried till it was burnt -again plain mixed merging rice - the other half of the cherry tomato - and 2 sausages smaller than my finger which was an $8 add on

Super delicious Japanese-inspired lunch with excellent coffee and great customer services! We came here just after 11:30am on Wednesday so we missed breakfast session (8:00 -11:30 am), which was a bummer as we had been looking forward to trying their Traditional Breakfast and Miso Baked Egg (both were only available on their Breakfast menu). However, this gave us the chance to try their lunch menu 😊 which we enjoyed a great deal. We ordered the CIBI Plate (Pan/fried salmon, fresh seasoned veg, cooked salad, pickles on rice) and Udon Noodle Soup. The CIBI Plate took us back to the time when we traveled in Japan as the taste profile reminded us so much of the meals we had there (especially the pickles, they were so yummy). The Udon Noodle Soup was delicious too (it had chicken mince, roasted eggplant, onsen egg, sour plum, shiso leaf, togarashi and spring onion), the combination worked really well in term of enhancing the texture and flavor of the broth. We will be back to try their breakfast for sure!
