If you’ve watched the opening scene from the movie A Man Called Otto, you’ll understand my frustration here…
I ordered a share plate of chips (zucchini, regular & sweet potato for $14.50) I asked for the sweet potato chips to be substituted with regular chips instead and when I went to pay the total was $26…
When I questioned the young man about how he came to that amount, he quoted a public holiday surcharge (15%)
We then worked out that he had processed the order as a three seperate chips order of Zucchini, regular and another regular… So I asked him, is that what I ordered? He said yes, that’s what you asked for… So we did a little recap and started again, after two more attempts and no success, he had to call his even younger manager to the front line. we worked out that Grilled can’t substitute one type of chips on their share plate with a different type, I can understand if it was regular chips to zucchini or even sweet potato as prices are slightly higher, but a downgrade of all things..
Like Otto wanted 5ft of rope and because the shops system could only charge for 6ft, I found myself in a similar situation here with the Grilled System unable to process a simple swap of one type of chips for another on a chips share plate or have their system factor in a change like this.
Do better Grilled, your big enough and ugly enough now to help your very young staff and even younger managers with an automated system to help them with their roles because clearly this is in the too hard...
Read moreLet me start with the positives. Firstly the person who served me was super polite friendly and helpful. Had good product knowledge. When I asked them to wipe my dirty table he did so immediately.
The chips were fantastic. Clearly designed by a chef. 5/5 for chips.
I ordered mega melbourne burger. Was poor. Looks amazing, and each element of burger was high quality and clearly designed as well, but it's designed for looking not eating. When try first bite fell apart immediately before first bite. Only held together by a giant skewer. In fact I had to replace skewer to eat burger. I stabbed myself twice in the eating process. Also maybe flavour was not as good as hoped. Generally disappointed in burger.
Whilst I was there, the music was so loud that it was unbearable. I had to leave. I told young server and he says yes, and helped me move outside. I moved to outside since it was so loud. The manager is young and was in attendance and was working hard, and it's clear that they think this party atmosphere is good for business. I would say that he should start a club. Grilld should have a policy about music loudness levels.
So to summarise. Good service, great chips. Don't eat...
Read moreService counter person had absolutely no personality for the hospitality industry and genuinely concerns me why these types choose it for their employment interests.
No menu at the counter so one just has to perform a guessing game when choosing an item. Tried describing the only burger on the menu that has truffle mayo on it and staffer looked completely bewildered, offering no related suggestion. After several attempts and surrendering to ignorance I then asked if there was a menu to select from. With an irritable tone and expression the staffer pointed at a stand behind me and stating that the menu was there.
Once my order was placed the staffer offered no kind exchange and stormed off to the back area, clearly mumbling discontent to his team members whereby they appeared startled from what they heard.
I certainly won't be returning to this store in the near future...
