Decided to go have Grill’d with my 9yo daughter after her swimming class because she performed well eventhough she was unwell. Went to the Burwood store and lined up for footy promotional buy 1 get 1 free deal.
Restaurant was busy and lined up for 10 mins before it was our turn to order only to be told by the store manager that he would not take my order as I did not have a table as the deal was a dine in only deal. I can only say that my impression was that he was not happy with the job or workload and was dismissive and just told us to “go away to find a seat” or “come back in 20 minutes” when there may be less patrons. I didn’t know we had to find a table in advance so was effectively turned away.
I looked and there were unfortunately no seats available indoors or outside but was offered to share a table by another diner as they saw how we were treated and was about to leave. I then sat my daughter down and lined up for another 10 mins before being served. The couple in front of us was also here for the dine in meal deal but was not aware that they had to find a seat in advance either…. I would presume that this was not the 1st time the restaurant was busy due to the promotion but not once did any staff members tell the line of people that if they intended to dine in that they needed to be seated 1st. The issue repeated as other diners had the same issue although it was not as bad as there were tables becoming available.
The food was ok but when we asked for a fork for my daughter to use - we were told that they did not have any available as they have not been washed as they were too busy.
Coming to think of it- we were not given tokens to sponsor the local community

Read moreThis has been the closest grill’d to us for many years. We have been going here and enjoying the dine-in experience and takeaway/delivery for many years. The last few times have been horrible. The last time our delivery was an hour late and they forgot an entire child’s meal. Our meals were disgustingly cold and had to be reheated. This time, we tried to eat in. We sat down and were immediately told that we couldn’t sit there because it had been booked. Since when can you book a table at grill’d? There was no signage so it was slightly annoying and the only other options were the bench seats by the window - not ideal for small children, or the outside area which was too cold with children. The server apologised when I made my order saying they had a group or 35 coming in, literally taking over the entire restaurant. Maybe some signage on tables or a sign on the window could have saved them kicking people off the tables. We decided to take our meal away, much the annoyance of our son who had just returned from his first school camp hoping to eat in. Our order came a little bit too quickly and was under a completely different name to what I had given them, and not surprisingly, the order was missing something. We realised this when we were at the car so had to go back in to get the item that was missed. 5 minutes later and at home, my burger looked like a gross mess. It was cold as usual. Read moreJust picked up an online order with two burgers. On the way home, a strong smell of burnt charcoal, but I thought that maybe the smell from the kitchen. But when I unwrapped the burger, the smell of burnt charcoal became stronger and I fount that one side of the veggie pattie was over cooked and at least half of the surface looks like charcoal. I quickly called back to Grill'd and the manager called Dan sounded very annoyed and said that I can come back for a refund or offer a voucher. But when I asked about the voucher, he said that isn't for buying another burger. So I said I can come and do a refund. But I called him back later to tell him that I can't be bother to come and do a refund and his attitude was very impatience and said 'yeah, whatever'. All I wanted to point out is that, there was no quality assurance when buying take away from them. I've been buying takeaway from different fast food store for many times, but had never experienced anything close to this time, a burnt pattie that was smelling very strong but they were dare to hand it over to a takeaway customer, maybe they already assume that the customer wouldn't bother to come back and make a refund.
