I've been to many Hungry Jacks fast food outlets across Victoria, and many more Burger King outlets in the United Kingdom and other countries, and by far this store is the worst I have ever encountered.
The painful journey for a quick lunch started with a glance around the restaurant. The bins were all full. The area above the bins were stacked with bags and various rubbish piles. The tables and the floor were makeshift bins for customers who had nowhere for their rubbish to go. This is a clear health and safety issue, especially since the entire 40 or so minutes we were there the piles only grew, and not a single staff member attempted to clean it up.
The plan was to order a thickshake, a burger and a sundae, however my girlfriend and I quickly changed our minds when we noticed the staff member filling up the icecream machine dropped the bag used to fill it up into the dispenser. He quickly grabbed it back out, finished topping it up whilst icecream was dripping down his arms and into the dispenser. He then threw the bag away, and continued to work. This is obviously contamination of the machine, and nothing was done to fix it. I refuse to eat contaminated ice cream.
After being greeted with a snappy 'What do you want?' from the woman behind the counter, we ordered our meals. Over the counter, there was a few kitchen staff rushing around to get the orders finished, and the state of the kitchen was similar to the restaurant floor. Not once did we see that area cleaned either, meaning our food was cooked and assembled in an non-sanitary work environment. We got our food and ate it. To the woman behind the counter, being busy in a restaurant is not an excuse to be rude.
On our way out, there were parents waiting for their food to be made, while they sent their children off to wipe down a table so they can actually eat somewhere. When we were leaving, we asked the woman that served us where to actually put our rubbish since the bins were clearly overflowing, to which she responded with 'We're busy, we can't clean, take your rubbish with you.'
Hungry Jacks Burwood, just on the corner of Burwood Hwy and Elgar Road is absolutely disgusting, and I recommend either not buying food here or walking an extra half an hour down the road to the nearest McDonalds, where at least you can eat without swimming in bags of rubbish or stepping on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThere are some good things about this place like
the drive through is fairly quick
even when ordering over the counter is quick BUT!,
As I read in many other reviews before posting my own review there's this ONE GIRL IN STAFF WHO IS REALLY RUDE SOMETIMES!! (Update-haven't seen her lately)
You get charged the regular ammount even when you mention it while ordering AND present the "Shake To Win" prize screen at the paying window. This happened to me a several times and I just decided to not go there anymore.
once I realized the chocolate thick shake was horrible FOR THE SECOND TIME!, I decided to drive back and complain although I didn't do it the first time because I totally get it, the machines could not work properly sometimes. I drove all the way back, complained and simply asked for a replacement(drive through), then the girl said the machine is not working and then I asked what else can I get? and she said that she'll ask from the manager and told me to drive through... I did as she told me to and handed over the messed up thick shake, and told her this is the second this happened to me with you guys amd then she RUDELY and IN A LOUD VOICE while MAKING A FACE asked "WHAT??" I repeated and then without saying a word she walked up to the manager and pointed at me. And then came the manager and asked me what's the matter. I patiently and simply told that I need a replacement for this one and said just for your information this is the second time this happened. Then he asked me to come over the front and tell explain him what happened! I was losing my patience and told "just give me something for this thick shake" and then they gave me a freaking ice cream!!
Since then i HATE...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIdk if that would help anyone I work at this place We're not the busiest store in Melbourne, but we are definitely top 10; besides the busiest hungry jacks (like the one in Flinders st) don't have drive thru... but we do So you can imagine the pressure You might think why they don't hire more people; we have active 45 crew members at this point Why only 4 girls in front and 4 at back? You think a fast food can afford more than 8 crew + a manager at a time??? Especially that the peak time lasts usually two hours max
Now if you get a rude staff or have to repeat an order 10 times and still get it wrong, that is not acceptable But if you run in, at the busiest time, and complaining why you didn't get a sauce, that's a little stingy Besides, if you are missing a drink, or an ice cream or whatever, wait for it. If you didn't get it within a minute, then ask for it
Thousand times I have been serving a customer in drive, and the took off before I hand them their drinks!! Not to mention sometimes people drive off before they receive their meal!!!!!
So just to minimize the dissatisfaction, first of all know what you want to order before reaching drive/ counter and then clearly state what you want
And when you get your meal, quickly check it out before going away
And if you wan to order more than 4 meals, and/or you want specialties like adding or minus stuff, simply don't go to drive! Because chances are you won't get it quickly, you make a big line behind yourself, and yes they want to get rid if you asap so they won't double check to see if you're getting what you want.
Last but not least, you get what you're paying for! So don't expect too much :p
Lots of love
