Hunky Dory Fish & Chips Templestowe Lower — Restaurant in Melbourne

Honestly one of the worst dine in experiences! And I love my HUNKYS at other places… So disappointing going to this one for the first time :( and we won’t be back….

We knew the place closed at 8pm, so we got there at 7.20pm to be meet with two girls who both eye balled each other and whispered to one another ( like we were a bother to be there at that time ) … We already felt unwelcomed, but ordered our food cause my daughter was hungry, knowing that we had to be out by 8.

As soon as the food arrived, one of the girls kept passing up and down the walk way right next to us, looking at her watch while we were trying to eat - THE WHOLE 30 MINS she just was walking up and down up and down up and down… like what the actual??

Her actions were so inconsiderate and rude and Gave us anxiety and made us feel very VERY uncomfortable.

Once we were finished, we hadn’t even placed our cutlery down and she walked over and said “ Are you done? “ …. With tone - And started to collect all the plates from the table. Who even says that? So rude!!

For myself, my partner and my 11 yr old daughter we paid $94 for our dinner! $94!!!!

Sorry, but we won’t be coming back…

Someone needs to check in with the staff and appoint them with how to treat people and their...

Probably a 3.5 rating. Yes the place looks great and as a sit down seafood restaurant it's well priced. I have eaten in twice and the food was good but not great. Again for a sit down at that price that's reasonable.

Where it totally failed is when I went to order a takeaway tonight. I could not do it online as this branch is not even listed in the takeaway branch options. It is listed on the list of branches however, just not in the takeaway section.

The website creator credit still lists 2018 so I suspect that unacceptably for this day & age that the franchise management are not working hard enough at what are the basics these days like keeping your website up to date.

All this would not bother me except that phoning them to place an order goes straight to message bank - unacceptable. Perhaps this branch doesn't want to do takeways as it's sit down capacity is quite large. If that is the case, at least have the manners to say so so customers don't waste their time.

The grilled fish is not good enough and have found that a number of times. Others do get it right sonoex use. Hadn't been here for a while but other places were shut on a Sunday. Chips here were fine although the chicken shop just down the road does divine chips with chicken salt but was also shut. Grilled flake was somewhat rubbery particularly for $12.50 and just disappointing. Also they don't grill in bread / panko crumbs which others do and we do at home so its just their choice to make things simpler for the cooks while lessening customer choice. Finally I often have lunch next door outdoors and the loud & mainly boring dance beat music is anything but relaxing so no chance I might actually lunch here. Staff are friendly enough . Oh, and no I don't like the atmosphere ibresinse to Googles question. The back eating area feels like a boribg cafeteria. The outdoor area was actually lively when they had mobile planter boxes separating tables but they have not...
