I love this place until yesterday. The food is amazing, well priced with good value, but customer service, especially from the person serving and taking orders, was a complete fail! I was a bit disappointed with the customer service thou from yesterday since I started making this my regular place to go to on a Sunday afternoon... the first time I went, it was really good, now that I go there quite regularly, it started to dawn on me is this really a good idea that they see me regularly that they don't like seeing me support their business 😅 When I went to go order, the lady serving, I think she's one of the owners who I see regularly there, was a bit cold with no smile and I felt I shouldn't even be there - the attitude was like, not you again! I was still being nice and friendly when I ordered, but she was just the opposite, like she's forced to serve me.
Customer service is always critical to me as the clients are what keeps the business going and doors open, and it should not be that they are doing a client a favour or forced to serve. At least fake it with a smile and be nice, even if you can't be bothered or dont like certain people for whatever reason! I love this place and a warm and friendly nature from the staff is not too much to ask for, but I've seen attitudes like this before and soon after, places like this go under, which I certainly hope does not happen to this place, as I love the food and value for money 😔
I will give this place one more shot and see how it goes, if they continue with this bad and cold customer service, I guess I have to go back to Groove Train being my regular instead, and sacrifice the great food and value for at least getting warm...
Read moreHunky Dory Epping is by far the best location in terms of quality and service. Moonee Ponds and Port Melbourne are also good, however Epping is more local to me as I live in the North. They are always generous with their portions, especially their Greek Salad. The seafood is always cooked perfectly and so tender and juicy. Broadmeadows on the other hand, I find cook the seafood either in burnt butter because it was quite heavy in terms of taste, or over grilled it as it was kind of charred, especially the calamari. Epping however, always present their seafood lightly grilled, never over cooked, lots of herbs and flavour retaining on the seafood itself, and generous toppings with their salads always. Consistency is key when it comes to hospitality, and Hunky Dory Epping, I find are the most consistent with quality and service.
Additionally, the size of the restaurant itself is family friendly. Significantly larger and more spacious than most Hunky Dory’s. Parking is also readily available as it’s tied to a...
Read moreWe used to love coming here as a family but after the last few visits I don’t think I’ll be back. The pricing was always in the higher end and it used to be justified because it’s seafood and freshly made, but lately the portions esp of the seafood itself have shrunk drastically. When the plate of grilled calamari came out I was shocked and asked the waitress where the rest of the food was which she casually just said “we have always put 15-16 pieces on one serving”….yeah that might be true but the size of pieces have shrunk dramatically like the length of the calamari has literally been cut down to half what it used to be, not to mention the skinny portion of fish. The Greek salad mainly just lettuce with 1-2 pieces of tomato and cucumber in it, although surprising the feta was a decent amount. I can’t justify paying these prices for these...
