I never need to fly to New Zealand again, now I found this Golden Bakery! It's the real deal and the Steak pies are phenomenal. The sweet selection in the bakery is also very impressive and my tip is never go shopping on an empty stomach, it's very true about selecting treats here. Lucky they take a credit card. Last, but certainly not least is the REAL fruit ice cream machine imported from NZ, this makes the best ice creams hands down. See you soon my favorite bakery!

Coming from NZ I tried the steak and cheese, bacon and egg quiche and cream filled pancake. Sadly these pies didn’t live up to the standard. Pastry on the pie was nice but sadly that was it. The cheese wasn’t melted, there was too much gravy and only 3 chunks of steak. Quiche was average again cheese wasn’t melted. Service was great though and bakery is clean

Went here for the first time today. Tried the bacon & egg pie. It was absolutely delicious. I'm so glad I discovered this place. It's not often you find such good pies in Australia, but the Kiwis certainly know their stuff! The gentleman who served me was very friendly too. Highly recommended:)

Jayden Brian bakery, Aspendale VIC, Steak and Mushroom pie. $5.00, no free sauce $0.50.

A big pie, and what can I say, it taught me things. First bite, the pastry was a tad undercooked and it started leaking out the back, had to send the cheese and kisses in to get me a napkin, which wasn't readily available. The flavour was great, subtle yet pronounced mushroom and huge chunks of tender tasty steak, the gravy could be called a sloppy mess however this was no pie for beginners and if handled correctly the mess added to the experience. If you slurped the gravy when biting nothing would expel from its rear. The increase in airflow enhances smell and therefore taste and once mastered made this pie a worthy morsel. Was definitely worth the challenge. NZ Style pies for the win.

Pastry 4/7 Filling 6/7 Ease of consumption 3/7 Overall experience 6/7

While strolling in the neighborhood, hunger struck, and I spotted a young couple savouring a banh mi. Curious, I inquired about their thoughts, and they rated the Vietnamese baguette as "so-so." Undeterred, my eyes caught a bakery two doors down boasting Kiwi pies. Intrigued but clueless, I asked the counter attendant, who explained, "It's like a meat pie, but Kiwis love cheese." Intrigued, I took the plunge.

Verdict? The pastry was divine, the filling superb, and the overall flavor outstanding. Easily the best pie I've had in years from a modest, independent bakery, surpassing the likes of franchise giants. At $5.30, it's a sure bet. The quiches, tempting as they looked, will be on my agenda for the next visit. A gem of a find, and I'll definitely be back for more...

I'm pretty fussy when it comes to meat pies, but since discovering this place I'm all over their regular meat pie - one of the very best I've ever had. Only other things I've bought from there is the bacon and cheese quiche which is also right up there, and a pre-made roll on the way to work when I forgot lunch one day which was also good. I'm not one to write reviews almost ever, but the combination of getting the pastry perfect and the mince/gravy consistency and flavour perfect has inspired me to do so....quality little local business that is definitely...
