Kampung Story — Restaurant in Melbourne

Very disappointed with KampungStory. We purposely ordered an extra dish so that we exceeded $50 to get the free fried rice, my husband even confirmed it face to face with the staff on ordering. But when he picked up the stuff, he was told they are out of fried rice. At 7pm?! We were given a small single serve of corn soup instead and was told that it was a "big" bowl. When I complained later on the phone, the staff on the phone said there were too many orders and couldn't give it to everyone. He also blamed the"new" staff.

At least be up front about it when we order. We would have made a different decision. But if you advertised it, then you should honour it, otherwise this is what we call a SCAM. If you have said, we are cooking more if you don't mind waiting, that would have helped you sound genuine but a bowl of soup to substitute is a cheap effort that lacks sincerity.

This is the 2nd time in 4 days we ordered with Kampung Story and both times we were disappointed. The first time on Saturday, our order on Easi failed. They are no longer with Easi but the website was still accepting orders. Not sure whose fault but fine, we placed a phone order But they missed out our order completely and my husband have to wait another 45Mins when he got there to collect the food.

Very bad customer service. I ordered from Menulog today and as soon as I tried the Salt and Pepper Calamari, I called the restaurant to inform them that it is hard to eat either because it’s overcooked, was just reheated or for whatever reason and asked if they can replace it with a new one. The lady asked for my mobile and said she will call me back. After few minutes, my husband tried the Beef Rendang and told me the meat is not tender. I called the restaurant again to follow up on my request for the calamari and also to inform them about our feedback for the Beef Rendang. I asked again if they can replace the food. The lady handed over the phone to a guy who was very rude. He offered to give 50% discount and I asked why they cannot replace it now because we need the food for lunch. He was not one bit apologetic and rudely told me they are busy! It was so disappointing. We ordered from them before and they are not as bad as today’s. But having received this kind of treatment from the restaurant today is really bad and we will not buy from them again ever! When I first started visiting this restaurant it was always very tasty. But for the past few months the service and food has become terrible. On numerous occasions they have gotten my takeaway food wrong. For example putting egg in rice when asked not to as I cannot eat it. When they get it right it’s tasty but that is barely ever. Tonight was the last time I will ever order. Mind you before tonight they had gotten my orders wrong many times before but I always give them the benefit of the doubt that this time it will be better. Nope. I picked up my food for dinner after being hungry and at work all day. Went home to eat and there was egg in the rice. Called and told them what happened and drove back to the restaurant to pick up the correct meal. Was ignored when I walked in and stood there for a moment when the service man just passed me the new container and said sorry. I clarified that an item that was missing from the previous one was in there now and they said yes. Got home to eat and the food was still wrong! So frustrated.
