Had dinner at the Keilor Hotel and ordered the chicken parmigiana and calamari with chips and salad. The calamari was tender and nicely cooked, but the chicken was too thick for my liking — I couldn’t finish it. There were a couple of mix-ups during the night, with staff trying to deliver meals and drinks to our table that weren’t ours on two occasions. It would be helpful if waitstaff double-checked table numbers before serving. The setting is a mix of modern and old charm, depending on where you’re seated, which adds character to the dining experience. A thoughtful touch is the colouring packs available for purchase to keep kids entertained — a great option for families dining out.

Historically significant hotel right in the heart of Keilor central providing a nostalgic glance back into the history of Keilor’s past, including a drinking venue of miners in search of their fortune on route to the goldfields in Ballarat and Bendigo. The hotel has gone through many names changes the last name change occurred in 1862 when Mathew Goudie bought the hotel for 1000 pounds and called it the Keilor Hotel. Ownership has been retained within the family since 1862 - with the hotel now owned by Ray Dodds. This is a historic hotel that is part of the Galway Arms Tavern and constitutes part of the same venue.

I’m not sure where to start with this place, it’s outstanding bar, setting, staff, looks & food. Me and my girlfriend were severed by a very nice guy who was very quick to order, suggest & bring our food out. The food it’s self was great, with a nice thick and juicy Parma accompanied by nice fresh ham, very well seasoned sauce, with nice thick cut chips and a overall good salad. The only thing that I could genuinely say that was wrong with the entire experience with the gravy could of been thicker but that just personal preference. This was a 10/10, will be going back again.

After having a run of average meals at this pub in pre-COVID times, I steered clear for a few years. I’m a local which made it even more disappointing. A mate came up from Geelong for the day and suggested we eat here. Realising it had been quite a long time ago, I bit my tongue and hoped things had improved. A full house on a Thursday evening with a menu priced at the “slightly higher end” for a western suburbs pub - the indications were positive. Sadly, our hopes weren’t matched by reality. Both of us are bigger units and can put away a decent amount of food, even if it’s just sub par. Both of us ended up leaving around ⅓ of our meal on the plate. It is extremely rare for even one of us to leave anything behind! We shared a garlic bread, then he had spaghetti marinara and I chose the Ragu Gnocchi. We certainly weren’t chockers, either. He is a first gen Aussie lad raised by an Italian father who did most of the cooking in the house. He described his marinara as having a flavour he’s never tasted before. Both of us described the taste of our food as intense and bordering on being too rich. We surmised that it was difficult to identify individual flavours as the food had had the life cooked out of it. So much so that it was only one, very strong blend of all ingredients but we were unable to distinguish them individually. The texture of the meat in the ragu was not “falling off the bone” as one might expect, but closer to a mush as the long cooking time had shattered any structural characteristics in the meat. Very disappointing. Add to our woes, our pots of draught were both flat (washing beer glasses in soapy water?). We gave our feedback to the young man at the bar as we paid the bill and despite the brief response, “I’m sorry that you didn’t enjoy your meals” - strike three was evident when he showed that he could care less about passing the feedbacks along to the kitchen or management and he had no interest in asking any specific details about why it was all below satisfactory levels. The crowd size made us think that we may have just been unlucky on the night, but any thought of a return visit is a very long way off the...

I would highly recommend anyone thinking about having dinner there DO NOT ATTEND that smelly hotel and to stay clear of this low run down hotel. I made a booking for a group of people and it was to be in the warm section of hotel instead when I got there with my guests for dinner we were placed in the garden section of the hotel especially in winter time with no heating on . We told by the hotel manager that they were booked out and I wasn’t told or get a curtesy call from hotel manager to inform of their full house on that night at least we would have be made aware to make some kind of decision if we should attend or not for dinner. The garden section of the hotel was frozen as if you were sitting outside and if they had a heater on couldn’t we surely couldn’t feel it . What a terrible place , our dinners arrive more than an hour late , I personally went near the kitchen to remind the chef that we haven’t been serve and we were still waiting for our dinners. Other customers dinners arrived after us they were served before us. The all night was extremely disappointing . It’s a shocking hotel to attend to make you feel comfortable while having dinner. This hotel is more about business making money instead looking after their customers best interests....

APPAULING!!!! I have no idea who hires the security here, but i have never come across someone so rude, disrespectful and disgusting to every person who entered our function last night. Abusive words, even dared to raise a hand at my partner. Everyone there had something to say about the man at the door. if i could give 0 stars I would. I was mortified at this mans behaviour and lack of professionalism. If you want to be belittled and treated like dirt then i recommend this place, it did exactly that. He yelled at the women , and even scared children while behaving like this who were entering the function, and he claimed his 'boss' told him to follow 'safety procedures', there is a way to go about things and what this man was doing was not right. Yelling at people for not having a mask in their bags when all they needed it for was for 3 seconds walking into the corridor. Then towards the end of the night the security guard had family members who have joined him, without masks? how does that make any sense. this was clearly a power trip,...
