L'Osteria Restaurant — Restaurant in Melbourne

I admittedly haven’t been here for many years. I’d stumbled on it by chance whilst looking for a nice Italian place to take my (at the time) girlfriend. She and i LOVED it (and were given free desert). She use to live in Italy and said the desert was hands down the only thing she ever tasted that matched the real thing! I so desperately wanted to come back here (I had forgotten the name) that I’ve found the place by google-street view-ing the whole of Nicholson st. Now I’m back living in Melbourne I want to make this my ‘local’! I’ve never ever tasted a margarita so orgasmically delicious! I can’t wait to try the food again and I hope true quality is still top notch. I raved about this place the whole time I lived in Adelaide - the decor is gorgeous, the service was amazing, The food was out of this world, and the owner was charming as can be! Can’t wait...

The bruschetta was nice as was the actual pasta but the Ragu sauce that 3 of us ordered was another story. Expecting a slow cooked meat that fell apart I was pretty disappointed to see it had been made with mince meat and was dry. Tasted like a bland bolognese. The mushroom risotto was so so and over seasoned. Ordered an affogato that came with Frangelico and icecream but without the coffee, a little weird.... and then when we paid and being the only table in the restaurat I waited for close to 15 minutes for our $35 in change that didnt come until I asked for it.. Everything was exceptional. The owners are lovely people, speak fluent Italian so makes the experience even better. Their food best resembles traditional Italian food you'll probably have in Italy. Everything from entrees to dessert was amazing. The pizza base was very soft and the toppings were rich in taste. Would highly recommend trying to place for any occasion. For the price they charge you and the quality of food you get, I think it's the best food to value ratio. This place is one to remember and probably the best Italian food you'll have...
