Liar Liar is located on Kinkora Road, just off Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn. It’s not a huge cafe but it was jam packed when we visited.
We started with coffees, made with pride & love with beautiful coffee art, sensational coffee.
The menu is impressive & we’ll definitely be going back to try some more dishes.
The Liar Liar Hash - sautéed potatoes w bacon, onion, spinach, poached egg, hollandaise & sourdough toast was an absolute winner! We loved the flavours & the sautéed potatoes, such a well balanced & hearty dish & something I haven’t seen on brunch menus in a long time. It’s safe to say that bowl was clean by the time we’d finished.
The Pants on Fire (I do love a good play on words) was one of the best baked egg dishes I’ve had. A rich tomato sauce filled with spicy chorizo, peppers & perfectly baked eggs served with warm Turkish bread. Full of flavour & delicious & the Turkish bread was perfect for dipping. The servings of both our dishes were generous & we left with warm & very happy bellies.
We also tried the fresh juices, the Hippy Juice - ginger, celery, carrot & orange and the Golden Pash - strawberry, pineapple, apple & orange, both refreshing & loved the flavour combinations.
The service at Liar Liar was fast & friendly, most customers were greeted by name so definitely a popular spot with the locals. We thoroughly enjoyed our brunch & would highly recommend Liar Liar as a fantastic brunch & coffee place. A big thank you to Robin & the team for having us in & look forward to...
Read moreBrunch/lunch/all day breakfast here today was quite delicious. The menu is quite varied with a specific type of dish ie brunch, and all the ingredients fresh and yummy. The staff are all welcoming and friendly and not at all intrusive. I had the Big Vego option and my friend had the Big Liar option. The Veg dish was stacked with very generous piles of baked mushrooms, sweated spinach, grilled tomatoes, sourdough, two perfect poached eggs, homemade baked beans, avocado, and tomato relish. And the Big Liar was a similar variety of meaty offerings from bacon to sausages and lots of other meaty things inbetween, also with poached eggs on sourdough, and relish. Very nicely cooked and both of us left a small pile of left overs that we just could not fit in. Coffee and juices were also well made and very more-ish. My juice was the Refresh mixture of strawberries, watermelon, and apple and it was one of the nicest juice combinations that I have tasted, and it was served in a decently sized glass. So yes we will go back, and definitely recommend this place to others. It is a little noisy with background music and echo making walls, so expect to strain to hear any conversations at your table. My major quibble is the lack of available parking. There pretty much is none at all (except with a permit or a mega dose of luck), so I would recommend public transport. The Glenferrie Road tram was literally just a few steps away, so well worth...
Read moreIt was an OK dining experience. Met the benchmark. Probably because I'm used to nice plating at other cafés, so their plain way to dish things was a bit of a letdown. The portions were bigger than other places thou. I'd say my Big Fat Liar could have easily fed two people. It was big for sure.
Liar liar was just ok, nothing special about it.
Long black was good according to my man. My MATCHA LATTE with soy was PERFECTLY SPLENDID! The only thing I'd go back for again and again I think.
It was a bit of a journey to try and find their restrooms. Hope my photos down in the bottom would help you location them.
Another big letdown was that they didn't have tiramisu when we ordered it. Then why put it on top of the...
