Little Hong Kong House Review on 16/5/2024
This is definitely a good cheap eat place for Cantonese / Hong Kong meal. Although I used to go to next door when the previous business served Malaysian / Singapore, I never dropped in to this eatery.
It was a birthday lunch for a friend. It is clean, and bright with only a few tables.
Left wall is a TV which realise does not serve much purpose, and the right wall is posted with A4 computer printed meal items in Chinese and English.
It offers dCantonese dishes not available in other similar places, but some more expensive seafood and elaborate dishes, it is desirable to preorder at leastba coupe of days in advance.
A jovial came to serve us. We later found out she was boss lady, whose husband is the one and only chef.
We came to check out the claypot rice. The crusty "burnt" bottom is test os whether it is authentic. It passed the test. We ordered a serve topped with Salted Fish, lap cheong and chicken. The Salted Fish lack flavour, and the rice could do with some more sauce.
Noodle dish is always appropriate for birthday meal. The slight crispy Yee Mein is well done. It has a touch of chewy texture.
The Braise Pork Leg with preserved vegetable is fairly authen3tic, but I felt than a snall amount of sugar would enhance the flavour more.
We had a good chat with the chef and boss lady after our meal. We wish them...
Read moreGood little shop with some not bad Cantonese food.
We ordered soft shell crab, fried pork, beef brisket clayport, seafood fried noodles, sweet and sour pork, garlic beef, hot lemon tea, cold milk tea, cold lemon tea, and two silken tofu dessert.
Soft shell crab was pretty average, had a strong fishy crab smell, had good outer crust though. Portion size was a bit small.
Fried pork cutlets was good and flavour was done well but portion was small yet again.
Seafood fried noodles had a thick base sauce, was on point but not enough seafood or mushrooms, once the noodles got softer from the sauce then it tasted decent.
Sweet and sour pork was average, the meat on the inside was little and too much flour, sauce was fine.
Garlic beef was cooked well, beef was tender and silky and garlic was blended well with the light sauce, but the portion was tiny.
Brisket beef claypot was spot on, very good, recommend this one.
The lemon tea, milk tea was so sweet, so bloody sweet, it was like drinking pure liquid sugar. Please change this to have less sugar, dear lord.
Silk tofu dessert was a disappointment, we had both hot and cold versions, the tofu was bad, broken and did not hold its consistency, you can tell its been in the plastic container for too long.
Overall, average, maybe try different dishes to the...
Read moreAbsolute appalling service by the lady boss. We are new locals to the area and ordered takeaway. When we came to pick up, we tapped the eftpos machine with our phone, the machine kept spinning and returned an error on the screen. Lady immediately accused us of not having money multiple times loudly in front of the whole restaurant when we could clearly see the machine had an error. It was a $20 transaction and we had just picked up another takeaway order next door so her accusation was absolutely unfounded. We said we did not have cash and she rudely told us to go to the petrol station next door, which we did, however they could not give us cardless cash as we did not have our physical card. We returned and asked the lady if we could make a bank transfer. She told us no and there was nothing she could do about it. Eventually she came back and threw a piece of paper in our face with the bank details. We understand that tech issues happen and would have been happy to return the next day to pay with cash if she had offered that to us as an amicable solution considering the fault was not ours. However her attitude was disgusting and it was shocking to be accused of having no money. We will...
