Mentone Bakery Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

EVERYTHING HERE IS DELICIOUS. Traditional cakes, some take away stuff, and Vietnamese food. Everything I've tried so far has been very good, in particular, the Bahn Mi, which are really tasty (and I've tried many other places). The most perfect Jelly Slices you ever ate - just the right amount of sugar, pastry, jelly, yum yum. I have not yet tried all the cakes, but so far, all have been the same, just about perfect. These guys have an eye for detail, the food is consistently good. The place smells good, and the service is fast and friendly. And reasonable prices, like pre-COVID. UPDATE: I just tried a sausage roll, super delicious. It's got that magic herb that grandma used to put in them...

I love this cafe. The staff are always so friendly and the food is just delicious. They obviously have a fantastic following because it’s always busy!! The pork Bahn Mi are the best!! I also recently had their lemon tart and chocolate mousse dome cake. Such fine short crust pastry in the lemon tart and just the right amount of tang. The mousse cake was indulgent and such wonderful value for money. The French vanilla slices are also delicious, along with the almond shortbread biscuits. A fantastic addition to...

This cafe has a dual personality. It is a bakery as the name suggests and in a less spectacular fashion is a bona fide cafe. I was interested in the cafe on this occasion, it being my first visit (though I did come here once when it was known as EastWest (?)) Seating is limited in a space more suited to takeaways. However I sat with my wife and shared a perfectly good schnitzel sandwich plus an iced coffee. This is an alternative to the more trendy fare Mentone offers. I recommend it for budget...
