Mermaids Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Melbourne

Used to be good and good value for your money But sizes have gotten smaller while prices have gone up and quality's reduced.

We ordered TWO snack packs AND a medium chips. To our surprise they handed us ONE small box which you would think TWO snack packs AND medium chips would all be their own separate packs but they said it was all in this box. (Shown in the picture) This sizing for the price is horrendous.

Furthermore the burgers we ordered were quite stingy with toppings AND bland, could've definitely made this at home.

Very disappointed as we used to be loyal customers but after these quality and sizing changes this will be the last time we order here...

the food smells so bad didn't eat it... I order minimum chips and it smelled like fried fish that you will get wofting from frying fish after caught one from the ocean and that was the chips! paid $4,30 and the oil has not been changed in years might as well use gutter oil and mind you I have relatives and mates who own fish and chips shops in Williamstown and hoppers crossing and I work as a guy makes animal fat for the fish and chip shops the standard looked pretty low what is more disappointing there isn't good fish and chips around this side they have failed on so many levels that they could of had returning customers as myself but not...

They seem competent. I'd give 4 stars, but the deep fried scallops were slightly overcooked. They were hot but slightly too hard, but the scallops were delicious. I had some elsewhere and they were slightly rubbery. These weren't. I'd have no problem recommending them. At this point, it's too much to expect a bag to carry the paper bag stuffed with steaming hot scallops in...also, after reading other reviews here, the fish n chip shops around Sunshine, etc are quite poor and in the worst places. Don't EVER go to Goodfellas. They are worthless...
