The Brook Fish and Chips is one of those rare places that reminds you how powerful simple, honest food can be when it’s made with heart. I stopped in during the morning for a quick snack and ordered their flake and chips, not expecting anything extraordinary, but what I received was pure delight. The flake was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked with a crisp golden batter, and the chips were hot, fluffy, and beautiful cooked to perfection. Comfort food at its finest. Later, I returned for lunch and decided to try the steak sandwich with the lot, and that meal confirmed it for me, this place operates on a different level. The steak was tender and juicy, layered with fresh ingredients and balanced flavours that made every bite unforgettable. But what truly elevates The Brook isn't just the food, it’s the people. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Alex, a warm and genuine soul from a proud Greek family. She treated me not like a customer, but like a guest in her home. Her hospitality, honesty, and welcoming spirit reflect an international standard of customer service. Even her children, who were there, carried that same family warmth and work ethic. The entire experience felt deeply personal and wholesome. The Brook Fish and Chips isn’t just a local takeaway, it’s a family, run gem that serves quality with integrity. It’s the kind of place you leave feeling full not just in stomach, but in spirit. I’ll be back, without question. Highly...
Read moreOrdered via Menulog, but took the 'stars' without the writeup. 3/6 for food quality - 6/6 for service and delivery time.
Food quality was alright - edible... but the chips were best from a very 'alright' offering. Fish was dry in parts and very, very greasy to the point of the batter being almost soggy. We understand the food is deep fried but this was excessive. We were a bit bewildered by the thinnest potato cakes we'd all ever eaten, with batter to potato easily being 4:1. Dim sim was doughy equally greasy. Small things like including napkins, tartare sauce + lemon wedge would have been a nice touch. It filled a lunch gap but it is highly unlikely we'll be ordering from here again.
Ordered for the 3 of us working the public holiday. One of us was very sick that night and the next two days, one of us a bit queasy that night and the third was OK - make of that what you will. Order was the Lunch Pack, Flake deal + 1 potato cake, Flake deal + 2 potato cake & chicken salt on all chips. Service was good - all individually wrapped, labelled and the extra p'cakes as ordered. Delivery was good and right on time - wrong gate but they called which...
Read moreTerrible. I ordered chips and a steak sandwich and they tried to give me dim sums. When I asked where the chips were, they said I didn't order chips. My mate was with me and she even heard me check that they had my order right before I paid. Their attitude was disgusting as they basically called me a liar. When I finally got chips it was only 1 portion instead of the 2 that I ordered. The steak sandwich was awful as well. Don't go here. They don't know how to cook, the service is horrendous and I'd place a bet on it they haven't cleaned the place properly in years. If I could give 0 stars out of 5 I would. Avoid...
