Being a high level google reviewer I will do a proper review. I found this restaurant on Google while looking for a good local place to take my mother & family on their last night in Aussie. From outside this place looks awesome, in the front entrance looks very nice also. We were ushered to go out the back to the "outdoor" area, we stated our concern being it was 10c and the reply was that there was a heater out there (this will be my only valid gripe). The "outdoor" area is actually a beautifully enclosed area with lovely garden and water features (refer to my pics), however, cold af. The menu contains a really good range of dishes to suit any taste and many genuine authentic dishes I recall having myself when in Vietnam. The menu was a touch unclear on dish size or style but have faith it will be awesome. All chosen dishes arrived in quick succession & looked delectable. The highlight for me was the sizzling beef with satay sauce. While almost completing the meal we were asked to place orders for desserts if required as the kitchen was about to close. I found this really odd as it was about 820pm and far from the quoted closing time. The desserts continued the trend of incredible and I finished mine with a perfect Vietnamese Iced Coffee.
All in all this is a great retreat to bring family or friends for a meal, I have even reccomended a colleague to go soon.
My reasoning for 4 and not 5 star.... In the courtyard area it was freezing, a 10c windy as hell outside night and whilst the area is enclosed there was no heating so it was maybe 12-13deg inside requiring to wear a large jacket the entire time. We had been advised heating was provided but that was not the case. Secondary was being informed the kitchen closing at 830 understandable to state to us but at 830 and 2/3rds through the main seemed odd when closing time qas displayed as 10pm.
TLDR: Really great & authentic Viet dining, well priced, beautiful atmosphere with...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Blue Bamboo, a hidden gem in Melbourne’s western suburbs. I was immediately struck by the traditional tropical decor, including a beautiful fish pond. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the staff were friendly and hospitable.
I was particularly pleased with the food. The boneless sizzling paddy duck with basil was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. The tofu and vegetables were excellent, and the crispy pork spring rolls with lettuce and Vietnamese mint were delicious. I was also highly impressed with the robot waiter, who not only delivered the food to the table but also entertained us with its robotic movements.
The prices were also reasonable and the portions generous. I was also impressed with the freshness of the ingredients used in the dishes. The vegetables were crisp and flavorful and the meat was succulent and juicy. The sauces and marinades used were also flavorful and complemented the dishes perfectly.
Overall, I had an excellent experience at Blue Bamboo. From the friendly and hospitable staff, to the delicious food and the traditional tropical decor, I highly recommend this restaurant. Whether you’re looking for a quick lunch or an elaborate dinner, Blue Bamboo is sure to please.
(Please note, in a nod to the robot waiter, I decided to write this review with the help of...

I had initial reservations about this place 🤨 It was recommended by a friend, but I had never heard of it before. It further PURPLE-xed me that it's along a small strip in Braybrook that probably wouldn't ordinarily catch your attention 🔮 The shopfront is pretty basic. But once you step inside, you can say CYAN-ara 👋 to Melbourne and hello to a tropical island thanks to its stunning outdoor garden 🌴
While the prices may be a little higher than what you would typically spend at a casual Vietnamese restaurant, they are not unreasonable and EVERY. SINGLE. DOLLAR is worth it. The portions are incredibly generous and the flavours punch 🤤 there's no holding back on the salted egg sauce, the crackers fizzle and pop on your tongue and the broths are richer than you could ever i-MAGENTA 🤯 Plus, did I mention the atmosphere? 💯
