The fried chicken burger was great - the batter was crispy, the slaw was fresh and the bun was soft and warm. The chips were a great surprise - the seasoning is amazing, I have no idea what it is but I couldn't get enough of it!
The "wild about mushrooms" dish was good, but quite rich - the creamy sauce and buttery mushrooms were tasty but needed a bit of acidity to break it up, or more bread to give a bit of reprieve from the richness of the dish.
We also tried the roast roll, which was a delicious lamb and spinach roll with sweet potato crisps and chips on the side. The lamb was tender and juicy, with a bit of the drippings to amp the flavour up a little and what I think was a chimichurri sauce on it that had a nice little kick.
The only drawback is with the venue - the sound bounces off the walls when there's a few groups in there so it can get a little noisy if it's busy, and the outdoor area is right next to the street with cars and busses going past. Not ideal, but definitely not enough to stop me from coming back and recommending...
Read moreNice looking cafe & friendly staff. Went on Saturday noon and it was pretty quiet. Ordered fritters & southern fried chicken burger, also hot chocolate mint (that is interesting to have in menu!). Coffee was nice, but hot choc mint was rather bland. I dont mind the subtleness mint but hot chocolate itself was very faint in flavour. Fritters were nice but would have been nice if it’s crispier on the outside. Also I expected it to come with relish but it came with creamy sauce with ?chives on it. Tasted nice too but I think it would be better with some sort of relish. Chips were beautiful & seasoned well. Southern fried chicken probably need more sauce, as the bitterness of the cabbage was rather overpowering the dish. Might come back to try...
