This restaurant had inceredibly terrible service. We were waiting over 2 hours for our meals and the food was less than satisfactory after such a long wait. The service was awful and we were left hungry, we will never be returning here. We love asian food but this was subpar. Incredibly disappointing, there are 7 separate menus which left us scrambling to find what we wanted. When we decided we still waited at least another half hour before we could order only to be told they had run out of all vegetarian and chicken options. We have vegetarians dining with us who had to settle for plain rice. Considering it is a friday night we would expect better service and enough food to accomodate for the busy rush. We had to continually ask for cutlery, napkins and glasses before we finally got them. The restaurant was not busy and there is no excuse for such incredibly pathetic service. The food was overpowered by the amount of garlic rhey poured into it, leaving it inedible. For the prices they charge and the wait we endured it was not worth it. Many of our guests had to leave as they had other engagements, and didnt even get any food. We wont be back and will tell everyone the same. Disgusting food, awful...

This is a quaint little restaurant with very limited seating capacity. This is perhaps just as well as they don't seem to be able to cope with more than 2 people at a time. Both times I've been, once three of us and once four of us, the meals have come out hap hazardly, so one or two meals are finished or gone stone cold before the other meals are delivered (if ever) to the table. Even telling them that we don't have a long time to eat today seemed to make things worse. A lot of "so sorry's" doesn't help when one of you that is travelling in the same car together has to leave to get to work on time but two people have finished their meal and the other two 20 minutes later have ended up asking for theirs as take away as there is no time left to eat in. Then still waiting another 20 minutes to get the meals. "so sorry, so sorry, so sorry", no discount, no lollipop, nothing but "so sorry". Just not good enough when other patrons are getting their meals seemingly on time and offered lollipops when paying? Left a bad taste to the whole experience, will not go back for their overpriced meals and bad service. Very disappointed, expect to see a for lease sign in that window soon I think....

Absolutely disgusted at the service here last night. Two people (presumably the owners) were trying to wait on the entire restaurant (50 heads) all while trying to take phone orders and coordinate take-away.

We waited 30 minutes before anyone even took our order, then another 30 minutes for rice to come out!! I asked how fat away the mains were and the gentleman told me at least another 20 mins!! I told him to forget about it so we paid for the rice and left. Not to mention the couple next to us doing the same thing, although they’re dumplings come out cold after 60 mins!

I have absolutely no doubt those on the tables surrounding us were thinking the same thing too. Clearly they need more staff. At least 3 waiters were needed for the amount of people in there last night. It really wasn’t good enough. And the apology? “Sorry, too many orders tonight” 😐

Do not waste your time with this place. I could have driven to Glen Waverley or Box Hill, eaten and driven back to Croydon in the time it took to receive a bowl of rice.

I have absolutely no desire to return to Little Dumpling if that’s how the owners intend on treating their customers. Serious...

The service was a bit of a mixed bag. I was greeted in English. Although I placed the order by reading out the Chinese writing on the menu, I repeated the dishes in English to the waitress just to be sure, as she seemed a bit new and confused. The floor was littered with food scraps here and there and was a bit greasy. It didn't seem like they had given the place a good vacuum, sweep, and mop 'today'. The boiled lamb dumplings were overwhelmed with spices, so much so that we could hardly taste the actual sweetness of the lamb. The Szechuan spicy chicken was a complete letdown, it didn't resemble the photo in the menu at all. Instead of small pieces of crispy chicken, they used chunks of chicken. Crispy? No. Dried? No. The chicken pieces were too big, they weren't suitable for this dish, and the taste and aroma didn't permeate the chicken, making the chicken less tasty than it should have been. The chicken pieces were laden with so much salt and baking soda that they lost the real texture of chicken. It was our first visit after seeing a 4-star Google review. It turned out to be a very disappointing dining experience.

On a wet winter afternoon, I can here for a late lunch / early dinner. About 6 people in the restaurant dining but quite a few takeaway orders via phone or drop ins. Conveniently located opposite Croydon cinema, this is a nice looking place that serves very nice pork bing. I also tried one pork bun and one dim sim. Found the pork bun a little too doughy for me and somewhat short of filling. Bland. The dim sim was good and a little soy made it better. The pork and spring onion bing (6 pieces) was very tasty, better with some chilli sauce. Nicely presented on wooden board. Also liked the crockery in a beautiful blue colour. Choice of chopsticks or regular cutlery available. Service was good. Restaurant spacious with the usual Asian decor. Parking out the front is easy. Wheelchair accessible. Kid friendly. Disappointed I was overcharged and didn’t realise until I looked at my bank app later.

This is the greatest dumpling restaurant in all the world! Our go to takeaway food always. Vegetarian dumplings are always gross mix of vegetables that no vegetarian actually wants or appreciates but Little Dumpling has made the most DELICIOUS vegetarian dumpling of all time - being the zucchini and sesame dumplings. The spring onion pancake is the best I’ve ever had (and I’ve tried so many). My husband raved about the pork and spring onion dumplings. This restaurant is an absolute gem and the best restaurant in the Eastern Suburbs. Photo taken after devouring half the pancakes because I just couldn’t wait.
