Cafe Zingers — Restaurant in Melbourne

Many years ago, when I lived in the area, I would go to Zingers regularly. Wether just for a coffee takeaway or a sit down meal. Never had an issue. Food, coffee and service were fantastic! Recently we have been back there, as we wanted a weekly regular place to go. First & second time back, everything was as I remembered. Yummy food and friendly service. Third time, it was a beautiful day and we wanted to sit out in the courtyard. The usual guy wasn't there, just the lady. She told us that we couldn't sit out there. So we said we'd sit out the front instead. Her reply was "Well if you want to". Like it was such an inconvenience. She stood behind the counter and didn't make an effort to show us to the table, as the owner usually would have. I grabbed the menus myself and we sat out the front. After about 10 minutes, no one had come out to take our order, so we decided to leave. We felt super uncomfortable. Today, we decided to go there again, thinking that last time may have just been a once off. We went in and I was relieved to see the owner. Everything was as per usual. Friendly ect. The food came out and just the look of it was unappetising. The burgers looked like a dodgy fish and chip shop burger. I had to pull the tomatoes out, as they had an almost rotten taste. The Bacon was was literally a third of a rasher. My partners chicken burger was so soggy that after two bites it fell apart and and he had to use a fork to eat it. The chips were undercooked. Just totally disappointing. The owner left the shop and people started coming in. The lady was extremely rude to everyone. An elderly couple came in and the gentleman sat down. The wife went up to order takeaway coffees. The lady was rude and abrupt, asking if she was getting food. The wife said no. The Cafe lady walked past her and asked the husband if he was ordering food. He replied no and she snatched the menu out of his hand. He looked really taken aback and got up. We were so shocked at her attitude. That's when we left. We won't be back again. I feel sad that a once amazing cafe has become so terrible. To top it off, within 15 minutes of eating both my partner and I were in the public toilets with the runs. I've never experienced anything like...

I assume my friend & I caught the waitress on a bad day considering the reviews here have such a good rating. I understand people have bad days but I have never felt so uncomfortable in a restaurant. First of all I asked for a LRG milkshake which is what it says on menu & she had to correct me “Well they’re all the same size.” I was taken back with the tone of her voice as she was saying this. Then my friend asked if she could have eggs on the side so it wasn’t on her bread & that seemed like the biggest inconvenience “Well Umm I suppose so I’m gonna have to tell the chef.” My friend also asked if they have almond milk “Well it does say it on the menu.” Once again the tone was just so rude. We should have left because the attitude made us feel very uncomfortable, if that wasn’t bad enough customer service when we had our meals served to us she told my friend that the chef looked at her weird when she said to put the eggs on the side, my friend also asked if it was definitely almond milk as she can’t have a lot of dairy & the lady goes well that’s what I wrote down isn’t it. All her comments were so passive aggressive, I’m really sorry we were such a inconvenience today. If you’re having a bad day do not take it out...

Went into the cafe today and the barista working had a disgusting attitude and they were very under staffed and we had to leave due to a family member feeling unwell and we then asked for our drinks to be in take away cups and the staff member we asked replied with “ oh god “ like it was a massive problem there was no care for the customer what so ever and if it was an emergency is that how someone would be treated in the cafe I’m sure no one would want to be treated like that. I never got ice for my drink. I honestly believe that if the staff can not handle the pressure and can’t promote a friendly cafe then it’s worth the time attending. FIX YOUR STAFFS ATTITUDE & GET MORE STAFF !! I highly recommend not attending this cafe with staff that have a completely disgraceful attitude that have no care for their customers. I am shocked that this cafe has had so many good reviews when the attitude of the staff is so disgusting. I really put the emphasis on attitude and it being disgusting because it truly was. I believe they weren't accepting at all of the situation...
