Monacoâs is doing old-school deli sandwiches at old-school prices â most rolls around $13, which is fair value these days. Family-run spot, simple setup, and no-frills ingredients.
Tried the chicken schnitzel roll, but noticed the schnitzel was just reheated in the oven/microwave. Understandable for the price point, but it did make it feel a bit average. Also had the Italiano with hot salami and prosciutto â flavour was decent, though the fillings werenât very generous.    Read moreI have lived in the area for 12 years but I only just discovered this place. Here are some of the things you can find in the shop:
Some of the best pasta brands on the market - Rustichella d'Abruzzo, Martelli, Divella San Marzano tomatoes (I don't know anywhere else in the area that sells these! No need to go to Carlton or Prahran to get them any more!). They had 3 different brands of SM tomatoes. A huge selection of excellent cheese. I normally get my cheese from Leo's, but this place is cheaper and has a wider selection A huge charcuterie section
There is also a fresh food section with onions, tomatoes, celery, etc. and a sandwich bar with what looks like excellent breads for sale.
The owners are really friendly and the prices are inexpensive. For e.g. Rustichella d'Abruzzo normally sells for $10-11 online or in Prahran. Here they are $8.50 - $9.50.
This place is a gem and I am lucky to...
