Linger Patisserie is famous for their realistic-looking and delicious creations by the talented pastry chef Vivian, and if you're ever in the area, you must drop by and give it a try. If you're feeling peckish, they also serve brekky and lunch dishes, but don't forget to save room for those gorgeous cakes.
My friends and I had our game plan all ready even before we arrived. 4 dishes to share, and 4 cakes to finish off our meal. We had the Chocolatey Pancakes, Mushroom French Toast, Braised Beef Cheek, and the Sweet Corn Fritters. I personally enjoyed the Beef Cheek the most, and it's not hard to see why. It was incredibly tender and fell apart with just a gentle touch. Deep and bold flavours, all while the lightness of the celeriac puree, tomatoes and green beans balanced out the rich meatiness of the beef cheek.
The Sweet Corn Fritters were crunchy morsels of yum, and the dukkah spices lent a piquancy to the fritters. The strong savoury bite of the halloumi cheese, and the creamy butteriness of the smashed avo made this a dish that ticked all the right boxes.
Being a fan of shrooms, and also the combination of sweet and savoury, I was quite fond of the Mushroom French Toast but my friends weren't too big a fan. Nevertheless, they praised the execution and taste of the individual components on the dish.
The Chocolatey Pancakes bought with it an explosion of flavours, and each ingredients on the dish complemented one another so well. The pancakes itself were a tad dry, but luckily for the generous serve of raspberry coulis and syrup.
We all had our own favourite when it came to the cakes, and mine was the Flower Love. The shortbread crumb added a lovely crunch to the delicate texture of the Earl Grey mousse and peach jelly, and also a hint of rich buttery flavour. The cakes here are all stunning, and it's impossible to just have one.
The coffee here are excellent, which act as the perfect accompaniment to the sweet treats that they...
Read moreI’ve been to Linger a handful of times, maybe half a dozen over the course of a year. It does get pretty busy so even though the waiters are friendly and good, I wouldn’t classify the service as fantastic because they can be a spread too thin. I have no complaints about the actual service though.
The space is cosy and comfortable. Outside tables all have umbrellas and heaters. Again, no complaints there.
Food - I would classify as average to good. There were some meals that were good IMO like the Japanese curry but they have been taken off the menu. Today when we ordered the salt and pepper calamari it came with a pool of oil at the bottom(pictured) so, some attention to detail is lacking. However I would not say there is anything that is seriously bad about their food. We’ve been generally happy with the eggs, burgers etc.
My main complaint with Linger is the weekend surcharge. I’m opposed to supporting these places that decide to implement a weekend surcharge so I will not be going back. I’ve attached the receipt but for 3 main meals we have paid $7.70 for weekend surcharge and an additional $1.27 for paying with card. Call me old fashioned but I prefer seeing the actual price on the menu and not being slammed with surcharges when paying. Understand rising costs for businesses and good luck to them but I just choose not to indirectly support...
Read moreThis café is truly a Camberwell gem. It is set in a historical church with high ceilings, beautiful stained glass windows, and beautiful interior and decorations. I really love the ambience and aesthetic of this café.
What we got: -Miso Salmon -Tijuana Benny -Berry Nana Smoothie -Iced Matcha Latte -Cute Chic -Sleepy Bear
Everything was amazing – I love every single one of the dishes. They were cooked perfectly and plated beautifully. The pork shoulder on the Tijuana Benny was so tender and juicy. AND they gave out A LOTTTT of the pork! The eggs were cooked to perfection too – it was runny on the inside.
My favourite dish, which was the Miso Salmon, was so delish. The salmon was cooked to perfection – tender on the inside and the skin was so crispy! The rice mixed with quinoa was actually my favourite part believe it or not – couldn’t stop eating it!!
ANDDD THE DESSERTS!! LOOK AT HOW CUTE THEY ARE. They are too cute to eat 🥹 They were not only cute, but also delicious! They were soft and fluffy, and not too sweet. My fav was the cute chic – I’m a big fan of mango and this did not disappoint. Loveee the mango mousse paired with lychee jelly.
The staff were very friendly too! Overall, it was a really good brunch experience and I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to grab a delicious brunch. I would...
