Montibello — Restaurant in Melbourne

Delicious food tonight but seriously disappointed that you did not adhere to government mandates about checking covid certificates. After checking in with the QR code on arrival at the door, the only time it was mentioned was when I asked at the end of the meal. The waitress said I was welcome to show her our certificates but when I reminded her it was a government mandate to check, she said it was awkward to ask people. I told her there was a $10,000 fine for the restaurant & questioned whether the manager had told her she had to ask to see covid certificates. She did not want to answer. So sadly we will not be returning if, on the very weekend Melbourne has opened up, you do not think the government regulations apply to your business. In addition, a number of food delivery people came directly into the restaurant without using the QR code - another breach. I am not willing to take the chance that I would have to quarantine if your restaurant becomes a Tier 1 site because you are not adhering to the regulations by omitting to check the vaccination status of patrons. We been looking forward to try this place for a while. However it was not like what we expected.

We came on Wednesday night had gnocchi, seafood linguine, a pizza and side of chips. This is the standard order for us when we go to an Italian restaurant and before last night, we always have lots of leftovers to take home( I’m a small eater). But when we got our food here, the gnocchi my partner had was just a small portion that covers the bottom of the standard plate and one more gnocchi on top of that. My seafood linguine was just bland that I have to put extra salt and pepper to it. On the menu, it says the chips come with sauce and aioli. However when we got it, it just came out as normal unsalted chips. After few attempts I finally got the waiter’s attention to ask some sauce with the chips and tomato sauce was served after that.

On the bright side the pizza was good.

Nice place with superb service. The lasagna was great and the pizzas were a little too salty and could be baked for a little longer, what would have helped them not to be less soggy... but cannot fault the quality of ingredients or taste (besides the amount of salt). The service was more than great, it was warm, friendly and our waitress was constantly checking on our group and making all to make us welcome and comfortable.
