Stones Throw Cafe — Restaurant in Melbourne

There were no tables available inside and it was very cold outside. I was visiting with my 2 year old daughter and 90 year old grandmother. I was told that I could take a seat on the stools by the window and as soon as a table became available they would seat us. While waiting i didnt notice one of the tables became available and as the couple left, another walked in and were directed to the empty table. Then again within minutes it happened again. That's when I approached the staff and asked what was going on and why we had been forgotton. They apologised , but made us furrher wait until another table became free to finally seat us. I thought this scenario could have been handled very differently in order to not further upset the customer. I though in this situation they could have explained their mistake to the freshly seated couple and proceeded to seat us with hope to resolve our problem. For this reason, i hope this explains my low...

Atmosphere was great nice clean ... Great selection of food with different flavours and a slight Asian twist on some .... I had 2 poached eggs on sourdough and my son had the Avocado on sourdough with 2 poached eggs .... both dishes had what I would call boiled eggs rather than poached .... the yokes were actually hard and crumbled when cut ... we did advise staff who apologised and offered new meals but we were in a hurry to catch a flight so couldn't wait .... a bit disappointing as the bill came to over $80 which isn't too bad as long as you get what you pay for .... would I go again 🤔 probably but I'd be making sure that the eggs were properly poached rather than hard...

On recommendation my wife and I travelled to Montmorency, to sample a breakfast at 'Stones Throw' and we were not disappointed. I enjoyed a great coffee (flat white) which was a perfect temperature, smooth tasting and well presented. Also enjoyed a very tasty Mr Potato Head Breakfast bun with my coffee. My wife had a similar coffee, the Mr Potato Head bun and she also commented on how good her coffee was and how tasty the breakfast bun was. We really loved the atmosphere, the good seating and how friendly and efficient the waiting staff were. We will now have to go back and try some of the other tempting...
