North Seafood & Grill (Rear Northcote plaza ) — Restaurant in Melbourne

The food is surprising great for the price, the char grilled calamari in particular really impressed me. We had the signature grilled fish aswell, and it's rewally nicely cooked, the chips were a bit soggy but some prefer it that way so I won't be too harsh on that. Salad was superb aswell! They should add some optional feta onto that... mmmmmm.

However it's not all great. Service wise, the person serving us was very polite and was on his break, how sweet right? Wrong. It was very clear they were severely understaffed. And that dude probably felt the need to help on his break. It is holiday season and in an odd location so I could understand why, but it looked really disorganized.

While my partner was eating (1/3 through), they asked for some tartar sauce, which shouldn't have taken long. But unfortunately it took too long and they ended up eating without it. They do charge for the tar tar, however it was removed from the order.

On top of that, I ordered a smoothie and was warned of a 5-10 minute wait. I thought that's fine as it would arrive while I'm eating. Unfortunately the smoothie wasn't even started until we were at the counter about to pay. I did get my smoothie in a takeaway cup. but with the layout of the restaurant there is a window order section for gelato and smoothies, and then the restaurant behind it. The person who made my smoothie had to go from the restaurant area where he was taking orders.

Again, lovely food, just don't come during peak holiday hours.

Our first time here and we will definitely return. Ange Christou and business partner Mary were great hosts in fact all the staff were switched on and ensured to deliver impeccable service. The food was fresh and tasty, presentation had wow factor, portions were generous and overall well priced. We ordered trio of dips, dips were made in house. In addition we ordered the home made prawn spring rolls, they were so yummy. Then we had their special of oven baked snapper with roast potatoes and vegies for 2. This dish did not disappoint, my friends both ordered signature fish dishes with their selection of salads and mash, they too were very pleased with their choice. This is the amazing part, we expected a regular fish and chip type of eatery but we were blown away by the choices on the menu, it is far more extensive than first anticipated. There were burgers, surf and turf and spaghetti marinara, including banana fritters! We opted for a Ferrero Rocher semi freddo and these amazing loukamades, for dessert they were sooo good. What an incredible dining experience! From start to finish, our evening at North Seafood & Grill was nothing short of amazing. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavour and made fresh in-house with love. We enjoyed the meat platter, dips, calamari, saganaki, a beautifully crisp and refreshing Greek salad, and the exquisite seafood platter – everything was absolutely delicious!

The desserts were the perfect finish to our meal – the tiramisu, sticky date pudding, and panna cotta were all divine. Each bite was rich, creamy, and full of homemade goodness.

A huge thank you to the lovely and friendly staff, whose warm service made the night feel extra special. And a special shout-out to the amazing owner, Ang, who went above and beyond to look after us – making us feel so welcome and right at home. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality paired with top-quality food.
