Yokoso Izakaya Northcote — Restaurant in Melbourne

I am a regular at this place… and I always get amazing service and food. I come at least once a week alone, or with friends and we get a booth. Always paying cash and we eat and leave, allowing the restaurant to serve other customers and not taking up a booth for too long. But the last 3 times I’ve come here, it has been surprisingly disrespectful and the workers are oblivious to what is happening. The staff walked past me 3 times today as I stood there at the door to be served to sit at a table .. 4 mins later a lady from uber walked in and stood next to me. The waiter walked straight over to serve her or bring her the online order! SINCE When was uber payments more important than CASH PAYING CUSTOMERS AT YOUR DOOR? (Not to mention the tip I leave weekly) There is a lady named CHENNY who used to work there and we used to get the greatest service and food always. But since we don’t see her there anymore, the business is not worth attending.. I’m so disappointed I need to find myself...

What a beauitful experience. Saturday evening I walked in with a friend without a booking at 6pm to see if we could get a table. The staff are amazing and highly attentive and said they had a table for us if we could vacate by 7:30. We were happy to oblige as it was our fault for not having previously booked. The decor is very cosy and lovely music ( which soon got drowned out with the hustle n bustle as this restaurant filled up). The wine list was quite extensive as well as traditional Japenese drinks. The food was just superbly delicious....and was quick to arrive.. we had a total of 6 dishes from the starters menu and each was superb and plentiful. Next time I will book so I could perhaps enjoy the desserts as well. Really looking forward...

The Sukiyaki hot pot was incredible, and I'm not normally one to enjoy soup. I also had the okonomiyaki, which was a new take on what I've had in the past, super delicious, and I think had pickled ginger in it? Which was surprisingly good. The yaki platter was OK, but the prawn skewer left us wanting more! More prawn skewers! They were so tasty and fresh. The service was lovely. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there, and you could smell the food cooking in the kitchen from the table. And of course, to top it off, the yuzu umeshu was served with a whole plum from the bottle as garnish. I could not be happier with my dinner choices this evening.
