My expectations weren’t great as it’s an all you can eat concept but I was extremely disappointed with the experience. The food was average at best. Chicken Karaage was just dry shrivelled crispy chicken pieces served with about a teaspoon of mayonnaise and the chicken curry was pretty much the same dish but with what was like a packet quality (golden curry etc) sauce drizzled over it. I was hoping to enjoy this dish with steamed rice but the rice we ordered never arrived . Cold soba noodles were ho hum and the seaweed salad was decent. Seafood tempura was reasonable and the chicken Katsu basically an over cooked thigh schnitzel drizzled in a fairly generic sauce. The potato croquettes were however very good but as the first dish it all went south from there. The beef dish was quite tasty but very fatty. Although we could have just kept eating for the sake of eating there is only so much fried food and stodge a person can eat. I only drank water and my wife had a glass of her BYO non alcoholic wine that cost $10 for corkage , outrageous. There was no mention of a $10 corkage charge when she asked for a glass…. Looking at all the 5 star reviews this place gets I’m questioning how often some people dine out, $83 without alcohol and average cuisine doesn’t represent great value…. It’s not a buffet / smorgasbord deal , the serves are tapas size and come out randomly in no particular order. Certainly won’t be rushing back in a hurry, best suited to people who aren’t fussy who would like to scoff down as much as possible...
Read moreHad a great Friday night date at Okami Chirnside Park! Booking online was super easy and convenient. As soon as we started ordering, the food came out fresh, fast, and absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried was packed with flavour and really well-prepared. The restaurant was absolutely buzzing, so it’s clear it’s a local favourite, and the staff handled the busy night really well.
One bit of feedback: our drinks took about 25 minutes to come out, so I’d recommend ordering those as soon as you sit down to avoid the wait.
Also, a small suggestion for the menu. It would be great to see some fresh new dishes added like the Scallop Mentai or Gyumaki Enokitake you find at Isshin in Lilydale. They’re absolute standouts and something we’d love to see at Okami. I’d also really appreciate a sashimi/nigiri-only option when ordering. I personally don’t enjoy the sushi rolls or egg sushi and end up wasting them, which feels unnecessary when I’d happily just stick with salmon sashimi, nigiri salmon, and nigiri prawn.
That said, we’ve been to Okami Chirnside many times and always enjoy it. The atmosphere is great, the food is reliable, and it’s a solid choice for a night out. With a couple of menu tweaks, it would be perfect, and we’d be choosing...
Read moreWhen actually eating in the restaurant and on uber eats delivery, its amazing and I love the food. But after now multible times ordering online and picking up from store its quite disappointing. I ordered today and had again another bad experience. First of all, what I had ordered didn't even print onto the receipt right so the wrong order had gone through to begin with, had my partner go down and ended up waiting 15 minutes past the pick up time for our food, finally got given it then got all the way home to realise they give us the wrong order. They then called us and told us to bring back the food so they can give us the right order, then our actual order wasn't even ready for almost another 10 minutes, plus there was now a huge line that he had to try and push through to even get in. Then when we got our order and we got two mains when we ordered one and neither were the right main, then didn't even offer to make us the right one. Tho she was apologetic about that which was nice. So in the end we had almost cold food, and a not fun experience. Everybody looks frantic and unorganised in the store, we usually like your food but I'm sorry this experience really put a dent in my...
