Disappointing Experience at Oporto in Springvale: Burnt Chicken and Poor Customer Service
We recently had a highly disappointing experience at Oporto in Springvale. Our previous visits to this restaurant had been satisfactory, but this time, the quality of the food and the customer service left much to be desired.
Upon ordering, we received two chicken burgers and one chicken wrap. To our dismay, all the chicken pieces were burnt. The taste was far from the usual deliciousness we had come to expect from Oporto. It was evident that something had gone wrong during the preparation process.
We immediately returned to the store, hoping for some resolution. We informed the lady at the counter about the burnt taste and expressed our concern that the chicken was not cooked properly. However, she adamantly denied our claims, refusing to acknowledge the issue. It was disheartening to experience such dismissive behavior from a member of the staff.
We suggested that perhaps the grill had not been cleaned adequately, leading to the burnt flavor. Rather than investigating or offering an explanation, the lady continued to insist that the chicken was fine. She even mentioned that if we didn't wanted the chicken that burnt, then the alternative would be to serve it raw. This response was both unprofessional and bewildering.
Frustrated by the lack of understanding and empathy, we requested a refund. Unfortunately, even in this aspect, the customer service fell short. The restaurant agreed to refund only half of our payment, despite the fact that the food was inedible and had not met our expectations.
We were left with no choice but to accept the partial refund. It was disheartening to have a negative encounter at a place we had previously enjoyed. The burnt chicken and the overall poor customer service overshadowed any positive experiences we had before.
We sincerely hope that Oporto in Springvale takes this review seriously and addresses the issues we faced. Quality control and attentive customer service are paramount in the food industry, and this particular visit fell far short of meeting...
Read morePurchased a pulled salad chicken bowl advertised for 13.95 at the shop. Thought it was slightly expensive but was willing to give it a shot since I absolutely love Oporto. As I was in the drive thru the person upsold me politely a large meal with ‘large’ chips and 600ml coke. Server did not notify me of the price difference. I assumed it would be 3-4.50ish extra. I went through the drive thru was not told of the total price , only after tapping did I find out the total was $22.45. This is an insane price point for a fast food meal for one person in Springvale. Basically I paid $8.45 for a half filled box of oversalted soggy chips and 600ml coke. The quality of the pulled chicken bowl however was indeed outstanding. Very fresh ingredients, polite workers. Would I be a repeat customer in this particular store? No. Too expensive for what’s offered, and there are many better competitors within 1km such as ‘Flamed and Grilled’ - just as fresh ,bigger portions ,cheaper and family owned. As well as ‘Gym chicken’ on the same strip on police road also family owned. As well as ‘Korean Chicken’ which is also priced appropriately and family owned. There’s also KFC but let’s be honest, quality of food in Oporto is significantly better. But at least KFC has decent cheap options. Prices need to be more reasonable without sacrificing quality in order to be more competitive in this area. This is Springvale not Camberwell or MC, in fact last time I was in MC a Chicken rappsnacker was $3.50, not $4 as it’s priced in Springvale. Consider being more competitive in pricing and this area will offer a lot of repeat customers. Will return in a months time to see if this store has deteriorated or improved in any way to see if they take on...
Read moreLiars, avoiding my call and appalling service.
The review below by Ivan S is the exact same experience that happened to me at this Oportos, around the same time as well. Coincidence? Or indeed a scam?
I was charged twice for a meal after them saying the payment did not go through the first time on their system. Clearly it went through twice on the credit/debit card machine but only once on the store till. How this is my problem I do not know. I was asked by the staff to check I was charged the first time and yes, I showed them my internet banking app that said it was debited from my account. Despite this, I had to pay again. They assured me that the original payment would get reversed and refunded within 24hours. This did not happen. Calling up the store a few days after, they claimed that the payment was still going to be refunded. It did not. And still has not, 3 weeks on. The manager at the store is now completely avoiding my calls, and the head office number just rings out. I went back to the store last week to get my refund in person (even though I live an hour away) and still the manager or store staff could not refund me. I had to leave my bank details (which I feel is completely inappropriate) and he assured me the refund would be bank transferred the next day.
They still have not.
I now have no choice but to take this up with ACCC, my bank, and Consumer Affairs Victoria. What appalling, unprofessional service. Avoid this place at all costs, or maybe Oporto...
