We have been regular customers of this restaurant for the past two months, frequently ordering takeout based on their reviews and portion sizes. Until now, our experience had been positive, with no complaints from the multiple orders we placed. However, our experience on March 30, 2025, was deeply disappointing. We ordered Kadai Chicken, and upon opening the container, we found it was half-filled with oil—far beyond what would be considered normal. Wanting to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, we called to inform them, hoping they would take the feedback constructively. Unfortunately, the response we received was dismissive. The staff member on the phone casually replied, “Oh yeah, Kadai Chicken has more oil.” When we explained that this was excessive and unlike our previous orders, she responded with, “Oh yeah, come again, and we will replace it.” We clarified that we were calling to provide feedback so that future customers wouldn’t face the same issue, to which she indifferently replied, “Oh yeah, it’s up to you if you don’t want a replacement.” Such a lack of professionalism and customer service is unacceptable. A simple acknowledgment and willingness to address concerns would have made a difference. Management, please consider providing better customer service training to your staff. A restaurant’s reputation is built not just on food quality but also on how it values its customers. This review comes from a place of frustration, but also from the hope that improvements will be made.

It’s almost part of my daily routine to visit this restaurant and my fix order is Chicken Handi(recommended). I have been going to this restaurant from last 3 years nowadays it has been improved alot in terms of service and taste. Have tried almost all the mainstream chicken dishes including bbq but didn’t like the bbq as it’s not authentic and didn’t like the taste and chicken was but hard also chicken karhai was all tomotoes and didn’t liked it totally so was the fried daal. So from last 3-4 months didn’t tried anything other than Chicken Handi and Chapli Kebab as these dishes are very tasty and don’t wanna risk my meal. My suggestion: you should provide some more options of handi. Fix the quantity of your dishes as before one month I used to order a Handi and that was enough for 3 persons now barely 2 persons can eat one handi I have complained about it but nothing much has happened. Your naans are sometimes very good not very thick not burned and not uncooked but sometimes they are all black which seriously makes me frustrated as I order naans takeaway from you guys and when i unwrap them they were not eatable and I couldn’t come all the way back and paid for it them aswell. So you can understand my frustration happened to me few more time aswell.

@bonfiremelbourne in Springvale is a hidden gem for South Asian cuisine enthusiasts. Located at Springvale Road, this spot is renowned for its rich flavours and diverse menu, offering a delightful blend of Indian, Pakistani, and Middle Eastern dishes. The warm and inviting atmosphere makes it perfect for both casual dining and special occasions, with a cozy setting that enhances the overall experience. The food here is the true highlight, known for its high-quality ingredients and robust flavours. Some must-try dishes include: BBQ Platter - Supreme Mix: $54.50👍🏻 Chicken Jalfrezi: $20👍🏻 Lamb Tikka: $25👍🏻 Tandoori Chicken: $18👍🏻 Chicken Biryani: $14👍🏻 Naan: $3👍🏻 Gulab Jamun: $4 Lassi: $3 The BBQ Platter is a crowd favourite, offering a generous portion that easily feeds 2-3 adults—a great way to sample a variety of grilled meats. The Chicken Jalfrezi and Lamb Tikka are also highly recommended, with tender, flavorful meats that pair perfectly with freshly made naan. Bonfire Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic South Asian flavours. By the time we finished, there was already a line outside, with people braving the rain and cold for a taste of this cuisine—proof of how good the food is!💯

Visited Bonfire on the 16th of December and ordered a takeaway- couples combo with swap of one Nan bread to a garlic naan.

Everything wrong with the order:-

  1. The kadai was burnt/over-cooked.

2)The tikka boti was burnt/overcooked.

3)One naan was to be plain and both naans were chill garlic kids could not eat!

  1. The naans were burnt on the side.

Called to complain and the lady provided her name as Yashika! I spoke to her and adviced that the food in in-edible, she advised that she will make a note and as we were far away, we would be reimbursed with a meal next time. We said fine and that was the end of the conversation.

Make a Call on Sunday the 20th to request a meal replacement and the lady said only your kebabs were burnt! Funny I had not mentioned the kebabs. I asked to speak with Yashika. There was no Yashika apparently. Then after a couple of mins of argument they said they will provide kadai and naan. My response was this is incorrect and the agreement was like for like. I also advised I have photos of the food from the 16th. The person that reposted was "only your kebabs are burnt". We hung up after an argument.

A few mins later we called them back and advised them to not prepare replacement food as they sought of made us feel we were complaining for free food!

I have been to this place 50 times and there food has been the only reason we used to go. Service has always been horrible and pathetic.

But this time its poor and inappropriate service, poor food quality and this was the last time we visited .

Bye...

BEWARE!!!

I hardly give ratings or write any reviews on open platforms but since this was a worse experience I have had in a long time I had to share it.

I wish I could give it less than 0 or negative stars as this place has turned into a fish market or I could say one of the nosiest places in dining you could come across. Been there last night for dinner & the crowd what they get there have no manners or etiquettes. There were group of people who were constantly cracking jokes & laughing loudly. This almost went on for the whole time we were dining. When complained about it the staff said they cannot do anything about it. To add on to this awful experience, the food what we had ordered took ages to come. Surprisingly, there were hardly 4 tables occupied & still the staff was taking no consideration whatsoever to give us our food. I used to like the food when I used to visit Sydney Road franchise (where the staff were polite & food was yummy) but that has been closed now. Thought I should give this a try but very much disappointed. This was my 2nd visit to Springvale franchise, where the first time I had been In 2018 we found a broken piece of glass in our biryani, we complained to the manager & it was immediately replaced. It was a human error so thought I shouldn’t make a big deal of it. But this time’s experience is way too bad as the staff itself were inconsiderate & unhelpful. Anyway, this was my last visit to Bonfire cafe. Never going to go there again. Better to give it a miss. BE...
