I recently phoned up on Monday 16th November at 7:20 pm to enquire about their gluten-free/coeliac food options. As I was asking the question, I was interrupted by the member of staff, who informed me that he couldn't answer my questions over the phone as they were in the middle of service and during a busy period. He preceded to tell me that all the information could be found on their website under the menu. I politely mentioned that I had the menu up and was phoning as simple things that seemed like they could be made gluten-free weren't listed as gluten-free. And other items that had gluten in them were listed as 'GF.'
An example of this is their DUCK LIVER PATE, chargrilled sourdough with cornichon & apple chutney (GF), and SCOTCH FILLET with creamy mash, broccolini & your choice of sauce (no mention of GF) - I hope you can see why I phoned up to check their menu options. I mean they're still doing takeaway food 7 days, for pick up.
As I tried to explain the predicament I was faced with, I was interrupted again and asked to phone back the next day so that my questions could be answered. Did I mention that they're still doing takeaway food 7 days a week for pick up?
If you haven't guessed already, I didn't try to order takeaway and went elsewhere.
I understand that you may be busy and understaffed. However, that does not mean that you need to be rude and dismissive to a possible customer simply because they have questions regarding their...
Read moreWent for a family’s birthday and it was so unorganised despite the family booking a room but still had to ask for seats for people to actually sit down. Then the bouncer told us off for closing the door when it was their own staff who closed it in the first place??? Then went up to the bar to buy 2x raspberry lemonades and the girl behind the bar demanded ID so hostilely I was honestly flabbergasted. Apparently because she wanted to check if ‘I was even allowed to be in the venue at all.’ (I am 24) Had to run back to the room to get my ID and push through the crowd to give it to her so I put it on the bench and she gave me the dirtiest look and said ‘did you really have to do that’ saying I slammed it on the bar. There was a drunk old dude at the bar who REEKED of beer who was also making snide and creepy comments to me and my sister and did not help the situation at all. I get if you’re having a bad night or whatever but why take it out on me I’m literally buying lemonade and this is the first time I’ve ever interacted with you. Really disappointed because it has the possibility of being a good venue and a good pub but its staff are just so rude and hostile I can’t get past this. Will not be recommending this to any of my friends and will actually actively be avoiding the place. Way to ruin what should otherwise have been a good night for a 50th birthday what even. Really...
Read moreMade a booking and went in with my family. Had to seat ourselves as no one served us or even looked at us for ten minutes. Then one of the rude bar girls upon seeing us came over and slammed a jug of water on the table and asked if we were the booking. Then left us for another ten minutes. My wife and I got up and went to the bar calling out hello to try and get served only to see two staff in the back bar hanging out with about 3 customers in there. They then came over as though we were an inconvenience and told us it was bar service until 6:00, and with only two staff on they were busy. No one eluded to it being bar service when I made the booking or rang again to change the time. The staff did not want to know us and we felt absolutely awful about being there as we were celebrating my sons birthday so we left but the kicker was that they started yelling at us, from the bar when we left, 'Good luck finding another place on this street'. Classic! My kids asked why they were yelling at us. Should not be in hospitality those two girls. We went to the Terminus up the road, was busy, great vibe, great food and friendly service and when we settled up and left no one yelled at...
